5 WONDERFUL THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT MISS IN BOHOL

Bohol has everything! Where on earth could you see an island that caters all the fun and adventure complete with a package of nature's beauty? It can only be found in Bohol, Philippines. Living in Bohol is absolutely amazing! And I would like to share to you the things that i've greatly come to loved here. Here are the first 5 Things you shouldn't miss:

1. The White Sand Beaches of Panglao

Soaking up in the white sand, crystal clear waters in the beaches of Panglao

For only 15 minutes away from the mainland, you'll reach Panglao Island. Panglao is currently one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines. It's a small town offering the world class beaches and resorts. Experience basking oneself in the warmth of the sun, pristine sea and the friendly people entertaining you with their smile. ( I will recommend resorts and hotels in one of my blogs. so keep in touch.)

2. Loboc River Cruise

Have you ridden a floating restaurant that takes you to the scenic view of a river? Well, you should not fail to miss this. The boat ride is very cool, refreshing and enjoyable! The ride will take you to a waterfalls in a place named Busai in 45 very scenenic minutes. There you'll see a sparkling river and the a few of the local kids of Loboc swimming and diving from the coconut trees. Get your cameras ready as this stunt is indeed a site to see! Yeah, you can see it from your naked eyes how these kids dive from the coconut tree to the river. It's really fun! And the food? Sumptuous. While riding you will be served with a buffet lunch. Eat-all-you can! And I didn't even tell you about the beautiful serenade that the boat staff charm you with!
Take the boat ride and you will not only enjoy a good meal but a native repertoire of visayan songs and music from Beatles, Abba and the like. Manong Pedro, one of the singers of the boat welcomed us in this song:

"...Welcome to Bohol.

This is the land of Chocolate Hills..

This is the land of the golden sun....

This is the home of a noble man...

We wish you a happy coming

to our beloved Philippines.

This is Bohol, our pride Bohol,...

Welcome Visitor....

This is Bohol, Loboc Bohol....

Welcome Visitor."

You will surely love it!

3. Close encounter with the Tarsiers

Maybe a lot of people don't know what Tarsiers are. The Tarsier(Tarsius syrichta) is one of the smallest primates in the world. It has a long tail, with a huge eyes and their head to body ranges from 10 to 15 cms. in length. What so amazing about this primate is that their heads can rotate 360 degrees. They are primarily insectivorous and catch insects by jumping at them.Tarsiers are also nocturnal. Bohol is blessed to have tarsiers and have been on the countries protected-speciest list. I had the opportunity to take pictures of these delicate animals.

Though Tarsiers are endangered, the goverment authorities allowed limited captive Tarsiers to few people provided that they are well-fed and taken cared of. This was allowed because the Tarsier's habitat is off of the road for the tourists and it was their solution for it to be accessible for everybody. It was really fantastic! Take pictures of them too!

4. Visit Century-old Churches

Readers: Have you been there before?

Bohol is the number 1 tourist destination in the Philippines. It has very nice beaches, hospitalbe people and the world famous Chocolate Hills is there.

Yes, it's affordable and enjoyable. You will not regret spending your money because it's worth it. The place is fantastic!

Henk says:

Certainly cheaper than Boracay. There are a few expensive resorts on Panglao, but most are very affordable.

Slicer says:

Yes, it can be very cheap to visit Bohol! Although there are a couple of expensive and luxury hotels in Bohol, there's some great little gems that are very cheap.

ShirlztheGreat says:

i love bohol!! :)

squidoodeedodoo says:

I've been to Bohol quite a number of times and I can't wait to get back! I have yet to see the many WONDERS that it has to offer!

Bohol is just like any other Philippine tourist destination in terms of pricing. The main problem is that services cost more than they do in some other Asian countries. But the Boholanos charm, kindness and small town mentality ( which makes you feel so welcome ) more than makes up for the cost.

Also unlike other destinations in the Philippines, Bohol IS absolutely filled with too many spectacles! Making a trip there so cost effective!

Make sure you stay for more than a couple of days or even a week to enjoy all the attractions in this beautiful island

No. it's nice to go there but the accomodations are expensive.

Bohol Vacation 2009

Balik sa Bohol Balik!

It's been a year since I moved here in Manila to be with my hubby Mark. Living a new life in a big city is quite an adventure nonetheless, i enjoyed my stay here meeting new faces and building relationships with good people around. But one thing that i truly miss is my little paradise where my family and friends live - Bohol.

Last April 2009, Mark and I went to Bohol for a vacation. Days before that, my heart was pondering with full of excitements as i'm going to see my family and friends again. And also, i'll be celebrating my 25th birthday there which is memorable knowing that my birthday will fall on the easter sunday. I am happy to share with you my beautiful vacation in Bohol.

My Birthday, Easter Sunday and the Beach

We took the plane via Cebu and rode by boat going to Tagbilaran City, Bohol. I was very hopeful that we will arrive on time so we can attend the early easter sunday worship in our church by 4 o'clock in the morning. Good thing, we arrived in time safely. Upon arriving, we directly went home and prepared ourselves for church. I got excited going to church seeing my churchmates and friends. It was also my way of thanking the Lord for giving me another year. The worship service was inspiring and i also want to thank the pastor for welcoming us again and leading the congregation in singing a birthday song for me.

Another thing that i love was after the church service, the entire members of the church and my family of course proceeded to Panglao White Beach for picnic. Yes, i must admit that when i moved to Manila a year ago i've only gone to the beach once and I really really missed communing with nature. I can't wait to soak and bask myself under the heat of the sun at the beach. It was high tide and there were big waves yet friendly which enable us to play while those strong waves strucked and hit us. There were games and lots of prizes for everyone. It was awesome!

The clear blue skies, the beautiful beach, a loving family and a heartwarming people - what's more to ask? It was a perfect birthday gift!

And it was not over yet. That particular night, my relatives and cousins came to the house to celebrate. My friends and classmtes in college were also present and it was like a mini reunion in my birthday since we didn't meet for a long time already. I should say that I am blessed to have a wonderful family and friends. It was a long day full of fun and joy.

Stuff you might want to take with you!
