Philippines Travel

Visayas Region

Of all the places I have visited on this planet, The Philippines is unlike any other destination. The people, the culture, the cuisine are unlike other countries in Asia. But, I digress, Let me start at the beginning.

Never having been out the United States, I wanted to see the world. I wanted to go and experience some exotic destination of the beaten path. After much research, and with the help of a trusty guide I decided to travel to the Philippines. I had heard so much about the Philippines beaches so I had to go there. I wanted to stay away from the capital because I really wanted to immerse myself with the filipino culture. I booked a flight to Cebu.

Cebu is a small island about one hour airflight south of the Main Island of Luzon, where the capital of the Philippines, Manila is located. Cebu is known as the crown jewel of asia. After my 24 hour flight I arrived in Cebu to see how right I was in going there directly. Despite being a small island, Cebu does not have the smoggy crowded feel that plagues so many of the island nations.

Now, I have been there so many times since that first visit and each and every time I feel like I am coming home. There are even more foreigners mingling in the malls, the wetmarkets, or even bicycling down the streets.
