There are two types of network marketers. There are those who understand the true meaning of giving value and building a relationship with their prospect before they even consider hitting them with a sales pitch and then there are those we call desperate network marketers.

So what is a desperate network marketer?

A desperate network marketer is the one that talks bad about another MLM company and then starts pitching his or her opportunity. This is not only self-defeating but you appear to be unethical in your profession as a network marketer. Never try to run another company down by saying yours is better. You would only pull prospects away from you and your MLM. Would you sign up with a sponsor that is talking bad about another MLM company? Of course not!

So how does a desperate network marketer acts with a prospect?

They start with a sales pitch about their company, their products and themselves.

"Our company is better than YTB, our compensation plan is much better than YTB. Our product will change your life and you need to be on them, your family needs to be on them in fact, everyone you know needs to be on them, my company, me, me, me, me."

The truth is, the prospect will have switched off after 20 seconds and will not want to hear from you again. They would just be looking for a way to get out of this. Our desperate network marketer has killed any chance of working with this prospect.

I remember the day, when I first heard about YTB. Naturally, I immediately headed to Google to type in YTB. I found this very blog and several standard affiliate sites. I had high hopes for this blog, but when I read it, I realized it had the same standard sales pitch. I didn't want a sales pitch. I wanted real information.

I wanted to know what the REAL deal was, and that is why I began writing on this blog . I want those of you who are looking at the YTB opportunity to have REAL information that will help you make an informed decision- regardless of whose team you ultimately join. No sales pitch here (I probably couldn't make a decent one if I tried...) With that said:

Determining if YTB is right for you is the ultimate answer you are searching for, so here is a candid assessment of the program to help you make this decision.

1. If you are joining because you think you will make millions tomorrow, and will be devastated if your bank account doesn't fill up immediately upon joining- YTB is not for you. Now, to be fair to them- they had to start from square one at some point- but you never hear about the years it took them to get to where they had a viable downline.

The bottom line is that this business takes WORK- but unlike your 9 to 5, hard work in network marketing (and specifically YTB) CAN set you financially free!

2. If you like to travel, YTB is for you. You really can get some great travel perks as an industry insider. The travel products YTB sells are real. In fact, Your Travel Biz has done so well in the travel industry, that they have earned the respect of major travel vendors, including Carnival Cruise lines, which gave YTB it's top sales award. So, if you are wondering if the travel perks you've heard about are real, they are.

3. If you are sick of working like mad, only to live from paycheck to paycheck, then YTB is for you. If you can follow a system, are ready to invest some time, and yes, spend some money- then YTB is for you. No matter what anyone says, you cannot get something for nothing.

Don't be shocked- YTB costs around $500 initially and $49 per month for your booking engine. Several people have asked me, when faced with so many home based business opportunities, why it is that I chose YTB. My decision was based on two things: the facts and a brutal assessment of my personal weaknesses.

First, the facts.
1. The travel industry pulls in approximately $1.3 trillion annually in the United States alone. That figure leaps to $7 trillion when measured worldwide.

2. Four significant trends:

Trend One: There are almost 1 billion baby boomers worldwide. One person every eight seconds reaches retirement age. This trend will continue for the next 20 years. So what? What will these newly retired baby boomers do when they retire? Travel, of course!

Trend Two: The travel industry is growing 23% faster than the global economy. That means that travel is expected to double to $14 trillion worldwide in the next 10 years.

Trend Three: The growth of E-Commerce. Consumers last year spent billions of dollars on the Internet. Travel is the fastest growing segment of that trend.

Trend Four: Statistics show that small and home-based businesses are the fastest growing segment of the U.S. economy. With large companies outsourcing and downsizing, people are turning to home based businesses to provide them with job security.

Now, to my personal weaknesses.

I can admit that I am far from perfect. I recognize that while some can sell ice cubes to an Eskimo, I'd rather hide out in an igloo. Having my own online travel booking engine eliminated the need for me to host parties, send out catalogues, or purchase potions, lotions and pills. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it just wasn't for me.

The thought of being demoted because I did not make a sales quota made me shudder. And I got sick to my stomach at the thought of asking my friends and family to buy products which could be bought elsewhere for less, out of guilt (or pity).

My friends and family already travel, so I am not asking them to do anything out of the ordinary. My website typically offers the same price or lower, so by booking with me they are getting the same deal or better. Plus, unlike other travel sites, I earn 60% of the commission when anybody books on my site.

Not to mention-the YTB business was affordable, the training second-to-none, and I can grow my business on the Internet.

Wondering whether to join YTB Travel? Here are some of the reasons I joined, and some of the benefits I've enjoyed since becoming a Referring Travel Agent (RTA).

1. No Inventory. The thought of having to purchase X amount of PV (personal volume) or having my group be required to sell X amount of BGV (Business Group Volume) made me a bit sick to my stomach. With YTB, I don't have to worry about all of that like my friends in businesses who are selling lotions, vitamins, etc.

2. No Demotions. With YTB, only you've completed your First Team (6 Travel Store Sales and 3 Reps) and promoted to your Power Team, you can't go back. Very nice compared to two of my friends in their company, one of whom made it up to a top level, only to have people drop out, and then she was demoted. None of that depressing negative progress with YTB.

3. Comparable Price. I just purchased moisturizer from a friend for $33.50. Could've gotten the same thing at the drug store for $4.99. I bought from my friend out of duty. I didn't want a business where I had to guilt people into paying more to support my business. With YTB, for the most part, the prices on my booking engine are the same or lower than the big-name sites. So, my friends aren't sacrificing anything by doing business with me- actually, they've told me that they've saved money on my travel website.

4. No Testimonials or Science. I looked into businesses selling juices, vitamins and lotions. But, the thought of having to stumble through a presentation using scientific terms or tropical ingredients I can't pronounce, statistics from scientific studies, and giving a "product testimonial" had me running straight towards YTB. No product testimonials or science.

5. Real Travel Discounts. Looking into hotel rooms for our family vacation, I realized just how incredible being an RTA really is. Retail price of the Hilton Hawaiian Village hotel: $425 per night. Travel Professional Rate: $195. Savings: $230 per night for our 10 night trip, or $2,300.

6. Easy to Promote Online. I build my YTB business online. I don't go to hotel meetings or cold call prospects. I have people joining my business regularly without having ever spoken with me on the phone! I teach the YTB members on my team the system for attracting prospects to them, so that they aren't forced to approach everyone they know about the business.

7. New Computer. Because I market my business on the Internet, the decision to purchase a new computer was easy%u2026two words: Tax Deduction. I love the fact that with my Internet business, things like my cell phone and Internet service can be deductible. Perks like this have me looking forward to hearing from Uncle Sam- in the form of a refund check! (You'll need to consult with your tax advisor for the deductibility of expenses based on your particular circumstances).
