Buying on eBay, Selling on eBay Or Thinking About Doing So? Learn About My eBay Store, Treasures By Brenda, Right Here!

'Treasures By Brenda' is a small, home-based eBay store located in central Canada in the nation's capital of Ottawa. I am Brenda and I am pleased to make your acquaintance through this Squidoo Lens. If you are reading this, I assume it is because you have an interest in eBay either as an eBay buyer or as an eBay seller. My purpose is to let you know a little bit about myself, my eBay store Treasures By Brenda and my eBay store policies.

I am an avid shopper and love to search for and find bargains. Wherever I go, I find a bargain. (This practice pays for the gas!) Now that my boys are older and busy with their own lives in high school, I have turned my attention to using my bargain-hunting skills to finding great buys for people who are shopping on eBay!

Whether you are or want to be an eBay buyer or a seller, you can take something away from the information in this lens. I work hard to make every eBay transaction an excellent experience and you can do that with your eBay experiences, too!

How did I start selling on eBay?

I always recommend that before you start selling on eBay you learn everything you can by reading and by buying on eBay.

It is an all-too-familiar story. A person finds themselves with a few things to sell, lists them and gets hooked on selling on eBay. In my case, I started selling on eBay when my mother-in-law passed away and we had an excess of lovely things that we just weren't going to be using. They were not too hard to part with (we kept the things we love) although some of them were difficult things to sell! (I learned that almost no one collects teacups anymore and also that people collect coffee mugs!) The process of selling these few things was the beginning of a long steep learning curve on which I learned a lot!

It was natural, after I had figured out how eBay worked, to go looking for items to sell, and now I never leave home without shopping. (Well, at least my eyes are always on the lookout for great deals!) It is a great way to pay for the gas. When we go away for the weekend, a quick stop at one of my favorite spots can make the trip 'free.'

What Do I Sell In My eBay Store?

A frequently asked question is, "What sells the best on eBay?"

Currently, my top performing categories or hot items are hard-to-find DVDs, newer and vintage children's books and Disney items. However, that changes regularly and has included children's clothing, books of all sorts, rare VHS movies, hard-to-find CDs, toys, games, puzzles, china, collectibles and so much more. I have a long list of top brand names represented in my items which includes, but is not limited to, Nike, The Gap, Roots Canada, Adidas, The Disney Store, AND1, Levi's, Liz Claiborne and Calvin Klein. My auctions generally give you an indication of what treasures I have uncovered lately!

I specialize in 'stuff' and much of my stuff is new, perfect for gift giving. Shopping is so easy on eBay - no need to leave home, drive to the mall and fight the traffic! (Think of the gas money and the parking hastle you save!) As the famous telephone guide in Canada says, "Let Your Fingers Do The Walking." Here on eBay you can find things that you cannot find locally -- all from the comfort of your easy chair.

eBay Store Policies, A Look At How I Conduct My eBay Business

My eBay policies in short ~~ Well it is a bit long but I believe that telling your customers up front what your policies are is the only way to do business.

When you shop with me through eBay, I am just an e-mail away, ready and willing to answer your questions. I try to answer questions quickly and I am willing to combine items to help you save money on shipping.

Customers here in Ottawa will find me willing to arrange a meeting to pick up their purchases. Because they do not have to pay for shipping, they are in the enviable position of being able to buy more for less!

Canadian customers will find combined shipping to be an amazing bargain! Often adding a second item to a parcel increases the cost only minimally.

United States customers can use my simple formula for combined shipping. Just start with the highest shipping cost and add $3 for the second item, $3 for the third item and .50 cents for each additional item after that with no limit.

A recent change to my store is the offering of free shipping. Numerous items, especially in certain categories like DVDs and CDs, now feature free shipping.

International customers are most welcome to shop at my store and I do have a lot of international customers. I can combine items for shipping for you but you should be aware that rates can jump quickly for international shipments.

My customers are my number one priority and I think my Feedback Rating and my Detailed Seller Ratings on eBay reflect that fact. Have a look at my feedback rating here.

I stand by my auctions with a 100 percent money-back guarantee. I am willing to give you a full refund, including shipping, if the item is not as described. If you purchase something that does not fit, I am willing to buy it back from you. However, in this case, you will be responsible for the return shipping charges.

eBay has recently instituted new rules that say I cannot state in my auctions that I will accept a money order or a cheque. However, I can still choose to accept them. You can pay me with Paypal, checks or money orders although Paypal is absolutely the fastest method and I think it is a far superior payment choice. Any item that is paid for with Paypal will ship on the business day after payment. If you send me a paper payment, it can take up to two weeks just to arrive. Then it has to clear (if it is a cheque) and finally your parcel can be put in the mail. This is all 'dead' time when your purchase has not even left my inventory.

Finally, every single item that I ship is insured. Very few parcels ever go missing but those that do receive a full refund from me and I file the claim with the post office to get the money back.

By the way, I generally do not buy from sellers who did not include insurance. I believe it is the seller's responsibility to deliver an item safely into the buyer's hands. If a parcel is lost and there was no insurance, I believe the seller is still responsible.

Your Parcel Ships The Very Next Business Day!

Who Do I Do Business With?

I love all my eBay customers -- Canadian, American and International.

I am thrilled to sell to people around the world and I have met many nice people through eBay. Most of my items travel from my home in Canada to the United States while some stay in Canada and others travel to international destinations. Choosing not to sell internationally would eliminate one segment of the market totally. There is no extra work or cost for me to sell internationally and some very grateful purchasers!

I love hearing stories about the items people have purchased, what they collect and what it is that they are looking for. Hearing these stories makes selling on eBay rewarding and provides smiles not only to myself but also to my family and friends.

Wherever I go, whatever I do, I am always on the lookout for great buys for you!

Is there something you are searching for? Something that I can find in Canada that you cannot find at home? Just ask! I love to shop for you!

Be sure to check my store at Treasures By Brenda frequently. You just never know what I might have in store for you!

Have fun shopping on eBay and

Great Items from My eBay Store, Treasures By Brenda

Remember that many things on eBay are one-of-a-kind. When the auction is over, the item is gone!

I would be thrilled if you dropped by my store and I would be delighted to do business with you. What follows is a brief peek into what you will find there today. If there is nothing displayed in this area, it simply means that I have nothing listed at auction at this time. If you do not find anything listed here, you may have access to items in my eBay store elsewhere on this lens or I may be taking a couple of days off in which case my eBay store is closed.

Here's A Funny eBay Video ~~ Weird Al Yankovic's eBay Song 'What I Bought on eBay'

Has this happened to you? Does your family cringe when the mailman comes to the door?

Weird Al Yankovic is a comedian who has had an amazing music career which to date includes twelve humorous albums. On Poodle Hat, he recorded the song 'eBay' which parodies 'I Want It That Way' by The Backstreet Boys. The song is a cute discussion of the narrator's somewhat out-of-the-ordinary purchases on eBay. No video has ever been officially produced, but the song has caused the creation of many videos including this one. Some of the fun things purchased in this song include a used pink bathrobe, a Smurf TV tray, a pet rock, William Shatner's toupee, Beanie Babies and a Farrah Fawcett poster -- all stuff that we definitely need! Enjoy!

If you haven't heard it, you are in for a treat, especially if you enjoy buying on eBay!

I love eBay and both buy and sell. My best sale was a couple of old (over 100 years) canceled checks my dad gave me that had a signature from a state senator on them. That was exciting. Thanks - great lens. Five stars.

I was looking for Ebay help and I think you are the remedy. My wife makes beaded jewelry and the neighbor has diamond rings and other items from a relative he wants to sell. I will follow for a while and get familiar with the terms. Although I have no clue where the best place to start would be. Do you get credit for referral? Thanks for the weird Al piece, it could become the soundtrack for my life!
