What is Gout?

Along with severe pain, stiffness, redness, heat and swelling in the joint, often residing in the big toe due to gravity.

Natural Remedies for Gout 

Here is a list of natural treatments for your gout. Most can be found at your local market, a health food store or your local Herbalist.

* Black Cherries, blueberries, and dark colored fruit. They are an anti-inflammatory and do help!

* Apple Cider Vinegar (organic) & Baking Soda in a glass, drink it!! Tastes wicked, but drink it, it works!! - glass of water, 3 teaspoons of APC and 2 tablespoons of baking soda, mix it and drink TWICE DAILY.

* Celery Seed or Celery Seed extract: boil the celery seeds and drink as a tea, or take the pill.

* Burdock Root Tea - drink as a tea, not bad actually.

* Black Cherry Extract - in a pill form if you can't find black cherries at the market.

Foods to Avoid with Gout 

Here is a list of most FOODS that can give the agony of gout!

Foods high in Purine: (raises your uric acid count)

* Red meats - steak, hamburgers, beef, etc (it sucks, I know!)

* Shellfish - shrimp, lobster, scallops, crab, etc.

* Organ Meats (blah, who eats this crap anyway?) - headcheese?! liver, heart, most "guts".%u2026.

* Booze - Beer (the worst cause of wheat and alcohol), anything with alcohol. (so not fair%u2026)

* Vegetables - asparagus, mushrooms, cauliflower, spinach, beans. (and I thought this was healthy eatin?!)

* High Fructose Corn Syrup - its in almost everything! Sodas, candy, cookies, donuts. :( Worse if its labeled as the 2nd ingredient (meaning it there is more of it).

* Oatmeal - well, at least now you have an excuse NOT to eat it.

* Fried Foods - french fries, battered fish, anything deep fried (it breaks down the vitamins in the food) and all the good stuff!
