Star Trek
Star Trek has been around since the mid-1960s. That was before my time as I was born in the late 1970s. I started watching Star Trek: The Next Generation in the 1990s when I was in high School. At first I did not like it, but it grew on me and I was hooked. Growing up in my grandparent's house when I was younger probably had a small factor in me actually getting into it in the first place. My grandfather loved Star Trek, so that was always in the back of my mind. My grandfather had died right before I had started junior high, so he never was able to see any of the other series that were to come out in my lifetime.
The Star Trek Franchise consisted of The original Star Trek, The Animated Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager and Enterprise. There are a total of eleven movies. The last being called Star Trek.
The Star Trek Series
The Original Series

Star Trek is a science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. It aired from September 8, 1966 through September 2, 1969. It was originally just called star trek but as the other series came out, people started calling it the original series hence TOS. The original series takes place in the 23rd century and the ship is the USS Enterprise and captain Kirk who is played by William shatner. His first officer (XO) is a human/vulcan by the name of Spock who is played by Leonard Nimoy. Then there is their doctor Leonard McCoy who is played by DeForest Kelley. Doctor McCoy's nickname is bones. Both McCoy and Spock played a guest appearance on The Next generation. McCoy was not as noticeable as it was for spock due to what type of roles they were playing. McCoy was in the very first episode of TNG when Data was escorting him to the USS Hood. He was the admiral. We all know what Spock did so I won't go into that here.
The Original Series only lasted for three seasons due to their rating not being that high, but the star trek franchise has eleven movies under its belt.

The Animated Series

Then there is the animated series which is also known as TAS. This is the only animated series of the whole star trek franchise. I believe it only lasted for one and half seasons.

The Next Generation

This is where I started with it all. Its known as the next generation, but most people call it tng for short. This series takes place 80 years from the original series which places TNG in the 24th century. This series is packed with nonstop fun. You got the captain Jean Luke Picard who is played by patrick stewart, the 1st officer (XO) Commander William Riker who is played by Jonathan Frakes and then you got Lieutenant Commander Data who is a android created by Soong. Data is played by Bret Spiner. Most of the time I would see a tng ep, I would crack up due to the way data was. The innocence of data is what makes it so funny.

Deep Space Nine

Deep space nine or ds9 is the only star trek series that takes place on a starbase. It came onto the scene in 1993. TNG came onto the scene in 1987. Both series along with Voyager ran for 7 seasons. Jean Luc Picard makes a guest appearance on the pilot (the very first episode of ds9). Basically from what I remember of the series is that their stories evolved around for the most part around the Bajorian History and their beliefs. The station's commander was Benjamin Sisko who is played by Avery Brooks.
Voyager

Outside of TNG, I have so say Voyager is my favorite. This series is centered around be lost in the delta quadrant and is the only star trek series that has a female captain. Outside of DS9, it was also the only other series that the starship did not bear the name of enterprise. What I liked about this series is that it was run by a female. Kate Mulgrew who played Captain Janeway, did a great job at portraying that character. What I think that also was so great about this series is the fact that because they had a female captain, they may have had a more female audience than any other series. I even got my one friend into watching it not that long ago. She was pretty impressed because this series had a female captain and she is not the type of person who got into star trek.

Enterprise

Enterprise was the last series for the star trek series. All the way from TNG through Voyager, they lasted for 7 seasons. Enterprise only lasted for four season which is one season more than the original series.
Enterprise is a prequel to the original series. This series takes place in the 22nd century. It also took place ten years before the federation of planets had been formed. I have not been able to see that may episodes of enterprise. Some people like this show and some don't.
