Ironman Cycling

Make your own Energy Gel for long runs!

Nutrition ideas for the long runs & long bikes!

INGREDIENTS:
3 tsps jelly (preferably organic)
1/2 cup cane sugar or fructose (some prefer to use maltodextrin)
1 tsp natural vanilla extract\1/8 tsp salt (270mg sodium)
1 tsp water or huice (you can adjust according to desired consistency)
Optional: One serving electrolyte mix.
Instead of ading the sea salt you can get a broad range of electrolyte in powdered form (you can find at health food store).

DIRECTIONS:
Heat jelly to melt it. Stir in the liquid. Stir in the salt and maltodextrin. Sir in vanilla. Makes enough to filll a 4.5 ounce gel flask. Play around with the recipe to create new flavors and find a consistency that works for you.

Make your own sports drink and get rid of the Gatorade!

Electrolyte Sports Drinks often taste terrible and are expensive! Make your own instead.

Everyone talks about how Gatorade really isn't that great. You hear things like 'It's full of chemicals' and 'There are better sports drinks on the market'. Well, I couldn't agree more and I for one am sick of Gatorade after chugging liters and liters of the stuff recently.

So, here is how you make your very own SPORT DRINK!

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of pure water
1 Organic Lemon Tea Bag (with or without caffeine, and feel free to try other flavors)
2 tsps cane sugar or honey
1/8th tsp of sea salt
4 tsps fresh orange Juice

Optional:
You can add electrolyte power instead of the sea salt.

Directions:
Bring the water to a boil. Steep lemon tea bag. Dissolve sugar and salt in the tea and let cool. Combine tea and orange juice and chill.

Nutritional Information per eight ounce serving:

Free 18 Week Half Ironman - Intermediate Training Schedule
The following program is designed for the triathlete who has competed in several triathlons, perhaps even a season of triathlons, preferably Olympic Distance Races. It also takes into consideration he or she can run at least 7 miles or about an hour with relative ease, swim at least 5000 yards per week and ride at least 25-30 miles 3 times per week on the bike. A half Ironman is a big step-up from the standard Tri. It is definitely doable, you just have to race and train smarter.
Free Advanced 12 Week Ironman training program
These Ironman training plans are intended for those triathletes who are doing their Ironman in three months time. It is assumed that you currently have a solid fitness base and therefore able to handle the rigors of these Ironman training plans.
Free Sprint intermediate training plan for 13 weeks
Ok, so you want to do a sprint length triathlon? To start the final 13 week program leading up to a sprint tri, you will need to be able to consistently sustain the following: 20min swim, 30min bike, 20min run. If you can do the previous, then you are ready for the final 13 week program for a sprint triathlon.
