Tattoo Tips

tribal tattooBefore you determine to get a tattoo, go and have a talk with your tattoo artist. When you get a chance to speak to them, you should make sure you ask all the questions you have about getting a new tattoo. You should also find out information about his background, and other crutial information that you need to know before you determine to get your tattoo done by them.
Ask the tattoo studio proprietor how long thier tattoo studio has been in occupation for. This will give you a good idea just how professional the type of quality of tattoo work and the overall rep for the tattoo studio.

Enquire to whether they are properly qualified also. You need to know thier experience, because infections or diseases will be easy to contract if any of the tattoo equipment hasen't been properly cleaned. A tattoo artist will be using needles every day, so experience is extemely important. Find out how much qualifications and experience a tattoo artist has this will help tell you quite a bit about what you can expect from them.

You ll also want to find out if the tattoo studio guarantees their work. In the rare occasion that your not happy with the look of your tattoo you can ask them to fix it for you. The better run studios will fix it without needing extra money. Refund policies are also critical, particularly if your not happy with the quality of the work done.

The price is also very important. Before deciding to get any tattoo done you better find out how much the full cost is going to be. Large tattoos will commonly be costly, although even the smallest of tattoos can be costly as well, especially if your funds are not big.

If you suffer from a fear of needles, you should always ask if there is a way to help you. Never be scared or feel stupid asking, because there are many people that are scared of needles. The tattoo artist has to use needles, because its the only way to get the tattoo applied under the skin. If you can't stand needles, you must let the tattoo artist know. They may know of some extra ways to help ease your fears.

Be very clear to ask all the questions you may have before getting tattooed. If a artist stumbles to answer questions that you have asked them or your not happy with the anwsers, it would be better to just go and find some other tattoo studio. Tattoos always have risks and concerns, which is why any good tattoo artist should be happy to help answer all questions you may or will have. Asking important questions will make you feel better about getting tattooed by them which is why its a very good idea to write down a list of the most critical questions you would like anwsered before going to the tattoo studio.

Tattoo Pain

tribal tattoosHow much does getting tattoo hurt?

OK so you are thinking of getting a tattoo but worried about how much its going to hurt. This is a very popular question which gets asked before someone gets a tattoo and the answer is yes off course its going to hurt but, how much depends on quite a few different factors.

Factor one is where your going to get inked.

There are places on your body that hurt more than others when you get a tattoo there, for example the feet, wrists and side of your body have been noted to be very sensitive areas of your body so getting a tattoo in any of these places will be more uncomfortable than others.

Factor two is how much pain have you experienced in your life and how old are you.

What I mean by this is that if you have had broken limbs or major surgery in your life you have most probably had some extreme pain so the application of a tattoo may not compare as much to that sort of pain and so you will have more of a high threshold to it.

How are you feeling when getting the tattoo.

Another factor that comes into play when getting tattooed is what sort of mental state your in at the time for example are you hungover do you have a cold or are you feeling ill or unwell for some reason. When getting a tattoo the pain is not that great but it does last for some time especially when your getting a large tattoo so, it helps a lot if you can take your mind off what's happening and this is a lot harder when your feeling under the weather for whatever reason.

Some guidelines.

1. Never go and have a tattoo when your either drunk or hungover. A good tattoo artist will not tattoo you when your drunk anyway so save yourself some embarrassment and don't even try. Also when your hungover your senses are usually heightened so pain will be noticed a lot more.
2. Don't go and have a tattoo when are ill or unwell in some kind. Again if your ill your senses will normally be in-tune and pain can not as easily be ignored.
3. Get some numbing gel to help with the pain. There are products on the market which will help with tattoo pain, like numbing gel but it has been reported that it only lasts for around 20 minutes or so. So if your planning on getting a large tattoo this may not be the best way to reduce the tattoo pain.
4. Take your mind of what's happening. The best way for me anyway, is to distract yourself for what's going on by either chatting to the tattoo artist ( please note some artists do not like to talk during tattooing ) or by taking a book with you, or some other way to take you away to a better place and help you ignore the pain.

Before you get any tattoo make sure you are sure its the perfect one for you, sleep on it for a month or two just to make clear that its something you really want. Get advice off friends or family before you get it, it is a lot easier from them to criticise a tattoo on paper rather than on your body!

Hello from a Squidoo Greeter! well I learned something new today ...I have to tell you, 22 years ago my friend got a large tattoo on her chest/breast area, she was in her late 30's and now her flower is very distorded because of her age and skin sagging, so I don't understand why one whould not choose wisely where you put a tattoo...I have designed tattoo's for friends, at least they had it placed on their shoulders.
