What are triceps?
The triceps brachii muscle is often simply called the triceps (both singular and plural). However, the term triceps (Latin for "three-headed") can mean any skeletal muscle having three origins.
In the case of arms the triceps are made up of three parts - a long head which originates at the scapula, a lateral head which originates at the back of the arm (humerus) and the short head which originates on the humerus a bit lower than the lateral head.
Overhead Dumbbell One Arm Triceps Extension
Triceps Exercise One
The name is a mouth full and this exercise delivers results. It takes your triceps through a full range of motion. Position dumbbell behind neck with elbow positioned upward. Keep your elbow close to your head and extend the arm until straight. Avoid locking your elbow to keep triceps constantly working through out your set.
Close Grip Bench Press
Triceps Exercise Two
Talk about adding mass. Use wrist wrap if you plan to go heavy and have a partner to spot you. Start with a six inch wide grip which for most people is a little narrower than their shoulders but it is not too narrow. Lower weight to chest and lift. Do not rest the weight on your chest.
Dips
Triceps Exercise Three
Mount a shoulder width dip bar, bend slightly over and lower body until arms are parallel to the ground. Do not go lower. Going lower brings the deltoids (shoulder) and the pecs (chest). Push body up in same posture and repeat. Don't lock out the elbows to keep constant tension.
