The Twisted 'paths' In Our Lives
How Meniere's Has Impacted My Life
I Quit!
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
I quit smoking cigarettes on April 15th, more than 50 days ago. That is no small thing, considering that I was a smoker for 30 years, and I smoked menthol cigarettes, which the experts say are harder to quit than non-menthol.
It has not been easy, but it has been worth it. Physically I feel no different, but mentally I have felt change. I am very proud of myself for having not smoked a cigarette in all this time. My family is very happy with me too. (My husband even quit too.)
I have discovered that the only time that I really have a craving for a cigarette is when I am seated in front of my computer, writing something - like now.
This craving has gotten me out of the house, doing more physical things to keep from smoking. I've been spending more time on my hands and knees, in the dirt, tending to my flowers than I have at my desk. All of this time away has gotten me thinking about a great many things; one of which is my future.
I have become disenchanted with the Internet and marketing. I'm no longer deriving any pleasure from what I have been doing. I don't know why exactly. Work is not work when you love what you do...
I love writing, (that hasn't changed) and have recently finished a manuscript that is in need of an agent. Therefore, I will continue to write, but it probably will have less to do with Internet marketing, and more to do with philosophy, or politics as that is what I am in to these days.
Having given up cigarettes has seemed to have launched me on a new journey, one of personal awareness and growth. I have become more deeply interested in how the mind works (particularly my own). As most people who know me are aware, I am a believer in the Law of Attraction. All of this energy redirection feels like the right way to go. So, I have switched into learning mode, and that [what I have learned] will likely be the topic of the things I write in the future.
One of the things that I will be focusing on is the advocacy for victims of domestic violence. That is a subject near and dear to my heart, and I feel that I must do more in this area.
This is a monumental change for me and my online presence. I am still available and more than happy to answer questions and investigate programs for my Dear Readers, that hasn't changed. However, TLC Promotions is changing focus a bit as is my writing. Please provide me with your feedback. I want to know what you think.
I also must do some housekeeping... I belong to more social networking groups than I can keep track of. Therefore, I will be leaving some of them so that my participation is more manageable and meaningful, and my inbox will be less full. I will list the networks that I will be active in, so that you can find me.
I have spent the last ten years or so, chasing the almighty dollar. There is no meaning in that. There is nothing wrong with trying to make money, absolutely nothing wrong with it, it is just not going to be my primary focus any longer. There is more to life than money, and I want to be a more significant part of that bigger picture. I want to do something that not only I find meaningful, but that others will as well. If I make money that's a plus, but it is not my main motivation any more.
I have met some truly awesome people online and I love feeling connected. I have just grown weary of all the new products and programs being stuffed into my mailboxes. I am not interested in chasing leads or doing presentations. I'm not good at it. There... I said it - I'm not good at telling and selling. I don't love it; therefore, it is work.
Like I said, if you come to me with a question, or want to know about a business opportunity's validity, contact me. If you're trying to sell me something, don't bother... please. I am done joining things, selling and buying things. There aren't enough hours in the day to manage all of the things I've gotten involved in, so I am cutting some things from the list.
I seem to have fallen into the very same trap that I've been warning people about for years - getting involved in too much at once. It has become stressful rather than fun. Time for a change. Visit my web site, TLC Promotions, to keep current on the things that don't get cut. I must downsize. That includes my domains as well. I am selling a couple of them and changing the format of others. As you may have guessed, I have much to do; therefore, if you don't hear from me in a while, don't take it personally. I'm just working reoganizing.
You will always be able to find me through TLC Promotions and The Trii-Zine Ezine, I will always let you know where to find me. I just won't be in as many places.

An Open Letter to My Friends
This is an open letter to you all, to let you know that I appreciate you and your thoughts of concern. It warms my heart that I am thought so highly of by you.
I have been getting many requests from you all, to join new networking groups, and programs; thank you for thinking of me. I have joined many of them, but I must let you know that I just do not have the hours in the day to join and participate in them all. I honestly wish that there were; however, I am having to do some serious modifications to my schedule to keep up right now. (It is an awesome feeling to belong.)
I need time to market my book, save my house, and get after the book I am currently writing. Yes! my novel has begun to find its way to paper. I had the most incredible experience the other day... After reading a single chapter, the first chapter, of the book: 'Write It Down, Make It Happen,' (get this book) I wrote out a list of things that I wanted to do with my life. Are you familiar with the movie, 'The Bucket List?' It was a list like that. (No, I'm not kicking the bucket any time soon.)
The first thing I wrote down on my list was this: I am going to write the book that's inside my head.
This book has been inside my head for years, but I just didn't know where to start, and I kept making excuses for not starting it.
The very next day, I kid you not... The very next day, it started pouring out of me. I head flooded with how it was going to go. I grabbed my notebook and just wrote. When I finished, I had two-thirds of an outline completed! I was blown away! I was actually giggling over what I had done.
The faucet has been turned on, and it makes my heart sing. So, if you don't hear from me for awhile, please don't take it personally, or think I fell off the planet. I am writing! I do read your posts, and messages. I just don't have any extra-free time to answer them all personally; individually.
I appreciate you all; please never think otherwise. I thank you from the depths of my heart for your friendship.
Now I must get back to catching the flow. And, I do have a house to save.
Take care and have an awesome life! I'll catch up with you later.
Trina
PS: Don't stop writing to me... please. I love hearing from you. Your messages are an inspiration to me.

The Law of Attraction In My Life
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
In today's world one might find it a little difficult to find things to be grateful for. There is so much negativity floating around the cosmos: war, intolerance, political scandal, homelessness, hunger, victimization of a multitude of sorts; the list could go on forever. But why is there so much negativity? Could it possibly be that negativity is what most people focus on? The Law of Attraction states that we manifest that which we think about. We draw to us the things we are preoccupied with. Therefore, it stands to reason that the world is in such a pathetic state because that is where we focus our energies; our thoughts.
I have been guilty of this myself, and recently, as a matter of fact. I admit, I have been preoccupied with the debts I owe, and the lack of money I have with which to pay them, rather than thinking about all of the things I have to be grateful for. I have been preoccupied with the struggles of this nation, and local political drama as well. I am attracting more of what I don't want because my focus has been on lack, not abundance.
Being that I am a firm believer in the Law of Attraction, I should know better. Some times it is more difficult to focus on positive things, when feeling overwhelmed with the flip side of the coin. Easy to say, not so easy to do.
I keep a journal of things I am grateful for, and write in it each morning. When I am through, I usually feel pretty good about life, but then the phone starts ringing with callers I don't want to speak to; debt collectors mainly, and I allow myself to get thrown off the positive track. The key phrase there being, I allow myself...
In an effort to get back on the right track, I began writing this today. I do have so very much to be grateful for, and have resolved to think only of those things today; which makes me think of the Serenity Prayer.
'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.'
I am only hurting myself by fretting over things that I have no control over. It is a distraction from managing that which I do have control of, and of course, it draws more unmanageable things my way.
So, what am I grateful for?
I am grateful for the love of my family and friends. I have the best husband on the planet, great kids and the ability to take care of my mother.
I am grateful that my eyes opened this morning that I could see the sunshine of another day, feel the love of those who are dear to me, and give love to them too.
I am grateful for my talents and even the challenges in life that I have faced. I am grateful that I had the courage and strength to face them, learn from them, and go on with life. Challenges that don't kill you make you stronger, and I would not be the person I am today, had I not had those experiences. Although unpleasant, they taught me much. So I am grateful for them.
I am grateful for the beautiful place that I call home. The mountains are an awesome site to behold, and I am fortunate enough to be able to see them each and every day, without having to travel.
I am grateful for the open and communicative relationship that I have with my husband and children. They know that they can come to me with anything without fear of judgement or ridicule, and I them. They know that I love them unconditionally, and I know that they love me the same way.
I am grateful that I have food to eat, a place to lay my head in sleep, and the shoes on my feet.
When I sit down and really think about it, I have so much more to be grateful for than I have to complain about. Sure, times are tough, but we are tougher, and we will get through. We always do.

A Personal Message
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
Good morning Dear Readers;
I just want to let you know that I'm not going to be writing for you for awhile, and why. I am writing for me these days. I have begun work on a new book.
The project I am working on is nothing like the book I published last year, 'My Journey;' it is much bigger. I don't want to spoil the fun by telling you about it in detail. I will say that it is not a compilation project, nor has it anything to do with marketing, advertising, or home business. It is a book that has been in my head for years, screaming to get out. Well, the door has opened and the pages are filling fast.
I must take this ball an run with it, and I hope you will understand. I asked for direction and it came to me; therefore, I must follow it. Truthfully, I cannot stop the words from coming. It is the most awesome experience; like giving birth to a child, only without the pain involved.
I plan to pop in every now and again, to give you updates as to my progress, and to answer any questions you may have for me. I don't want you to feel abandoned. I am still here, following my passion. Please do not abandon me.
As always, you may contact me here: http://triizine.quikonnex.com
Have an awesome weekend!

Christmas Past...
Trina L.C. Sonnenberg
Oh, about sixteen years ago, I was spending Christmas as a newly divorced, single mother. I was 26 years old and my son was three. I worked two jobs, just to afford to live in a housing project, in a very scary neighborhood. I had no Christmas tree, I had no money, I had no gifts for my little boy. Not one! Talk about depressing...
Thank God for the U.S. Marine Corps. and a very special friend with a very special family.
That year I stood in line for several hours, waiting to pick out a gift for my son. I was not in a mall or toy store - I was in a public library, standing in line to receive a gift from Toys for Tots. I was happy to stand there, no matter how long it might take.
I met some terrific people in that line. I heard stories of divorce, of unemployment, and of poverty, but everyone I spoke with was happy. No one seemed to be willing to let their financial circumstances ruin the season for them. Having walked in their, feeling wretched, I left feeling on top of the world.
When I got home, I pulled a letter out of the mailbox, sent from a long time friend and mentor. Inside the envelope was a letter and another, smaller envelope. The smaller envelope contained a check and $200 Toys R Us, Jeffrey dollars. The letter explained that every year, rather than buying gifts for each other, they pool their money and send it to someone who needs it. She knew I'd gotten divorced, and what I was going through at that point in time, so that year, her family chose me.
The whole thing brought me to tears. It also brought me to my knees in thanks. Just as I was drying my eyes, a knock came on the door. The guy I'd been dating was standing in the hallway, with a plastic Christmas tree he'd found discarded.
I then realized that just when I thought I had nothing, I had everything. I had people who cared about me. I had toys for my little boy, and a Christmas tree to put them under. Everything I had, I had because people cared about me.
Christmas is about giving. The people that I met that day gave me a new attitude; they taught me something. They shared their cheer with me, and accepted me even though they didn't know me. The Toys for Tots donors gave me a gift to give my son, and the volunteers gave me their time, to see that I got that gift. My friend and her family gave me their love. Instead of giving to each other, they gave to my boy and me.
Christmas isn't about who can rack up the highest credit card bill; it's about making someone else happy. And gifts of yourself mean more and are remembered longer than anything you can get from a store.

Happy 2009!
I have to wonder, where the time goes.
So much was done;
yet there is more to do...
Setting goals, and to them be true.
I will publish a new book, and move to a new home -
My King shall sit upon his new throne.
Two thousand eight was a year of ups and downs;
Specters in the dark and daylight dancing clowns.
Welcome New Year, I look forward to greeting you.
I know you'll be even more awesome too.
