The Tri Nations rugby union tournament is an annualĀ round-robin competition between the three Southern Hemisphere rugby giants Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Under the auspices of the SANZA (South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia) organisation, the series fromĀ 1996 until 2005 was on a home and away basis with the three nations playing each other twice. In 2006, a new format was introduced that saw each nation play the other three times.
