The Hidden Meaning Behind Flower Colors

Ever wonder what COLOR has to do with flowers? Some varieties hold special meanings that have been carried down from generation to generation. Today many do not realize the importance in the color of a particular flower. Color alone can convey a sentiment or secret meaning to the one sending them, as well as, the one on the receiving end. Meanings today tend to cross over from one variety to another following a simple color rule. Just think about how you feel when you see a particular color. Here are a few thoughts to stir your imagination.

If you want to make a statement, bring red flowers into a room for a real attention grabber. Many readily think of love when they see a red rose, not too surprising considering the stimulating affects of red on our senses. Thus the popular color for Valentines Day and Christmas.

Maybe your thoughts wander to images of sweet innocence on viewing a soft pink rosebud. A young girl in a flouncy dress on her 16th birthday or her very first prom date with a rosebud corsage.

Everyone smiles when they see yellow daisies or large yellow sunflowers making yellow a popular color to brighten up someones day. Yellow reminds us of sunshine and energy which puts a little extra zip into an otherwise dull day. Yellow and orange are often used to make festivities cheerfully brighter. They have a way of bringing joy, warmth and even sincerity to any occasion unlike any other color.

Bring white flowers into any room and you will often feel the calming, peaceful affect they have on our senses. White flowers are often the dominant color used in floral arrangements for funerals because of their calming effect. Brides wear white because it represents purity, perfection and innocence worldwide.

Purple on the other hand represents spirituality, power and passion. You may quickly think of luxurious things related to royalty when you see the color purple, or purple lavender that is often used for calming the nerves during meditation. Purple flowers are often mixed with other blue flowers, along with white and yellow, to invoke a sense of pleasure.

Blue being the coolest of the colors, sends a sentiment of truth and inspiration. It is the most popular color used for creating a tranquil, restful atmosphere which helps us to relax after a very hectic day.
