Trophy Boosting
All next generation online console games now come with online achievements and trophies. Some are rock hard and take a long time to get, so people have decided that the easiest way to get them is to boost by playing with their friends and taking it in turns to win (or whatever the trophy requirements are) instead of playing competitively. So on this article I will express my views on the subject and ask the reader for their views. I will also tell you how to boost for yourself, using this information is completely up to you. I believe it is not cheating whereas other people strongly believe it is cheating.
Boosting = Cheating ???
I have taken part in many Playstation 3 forum debates about trophy boosting. Many people think it is cheating whilst others believe there is nothing wrong with it. I myself at first was on the side of the people who frowned upon it ... until I actually tried it myself. The first boosting session I joined was for the game Quantum of Solace, the session took 30 minutes to set up, nothing went to plan and I boosted zero points. My second boosting session was on Buzz and that was so mind numbingly boring I only boosted 1 win. So for all the doubters out there I would say try boosting before you make your mind up that it is cheating.
My take on boosting is ... Online trophies are put in the game so that you play the online side of the game. How you achieve the goals set by the programmer is up to you, nowhere in the rules does it say HOW you have to play the online modes, all the instructions do is give you guidelines on how to play that mode. Since cheating is defined as breaking rules, boosting is NOT cheating as you do not actually break any rules. It may not be morally correct to boost, but doing it in moderation is fine by me. Don't forget that while you are boosting you are still doing what the trophy intended in the first place and that is to play the game. Boosting can be boring, so if you want to boost and be bored out of your skull, go for it. Personally I will help other people boost as all online does not have to be competitive it can also be co-operative.
What is your take on Boosting?

I've never boosted a game until I did the online trophies for AC:Brotherhood (right at the beginning of the year). The connection was awful and when I could get in a match I would get booted most of the time. So I boosted to get about 5 of the 10 online trophies. I have no problem with boosting...just because of online trophies. Connection or servers could be crappy...or the game may be old and there's not a lot of players playing it anymore. I try to avoid games with lots of online trophies...
Snake-eyes...you have no idea what boosting is. You can't boost Uncharted (or that Tomb Raider game I believe but I haven't played it). That's a single player game...you have to get those trophies legit (unless you know some kind of hack which would be cheating). To me...you can only boost online multi-player games. Try to learn what you talking about before you spout off...

If you really want to spend YOUR time and effort getting the trophy, go for it, it has no value, and hurts no-one, id much rather see a trophy booster than some MW(1,2,3) nuke boosting ass any day.

I don't even think it should be called boosting, I think that word describes cheating and so it would be stupid to argue in its defense seeing as how the name pretty much says cheating. Either way though online trophies are probably the worst and most unfair aspect about earning trophies. Hold on let me rephrase that ' requiring online trophies to obtain the platinum for a game is the most unfair aspect about earning trophies '. A lot of people don't even have internet. With the amount of games that now require some sort of online trophies in order to obtain the platinum that extremely limits people to the amount of platinum trophies they can have. I'm not one of those people if your wondering I have 4 platinum trophies :) thank you very much proud of all of them. Anyways developers need to take this into consideration when coming up with trophies for their games.

boosting is no cheating.
if you think the boosting is cheating, then i guess you, at first, don't give a damn about trophies.

i hate online trophies so i think boosting has nothing to do with cheating.
it's hard to complete boosting. I tried once and failed, in football game.
so i think it requires some skills and luck to complete boosting.
and if it requires skills (luck can be considered as a skill too!), it is no cheating.

I beat the main game Black Op's! I shouldn't have to play this stupid dumb idea of Zombies! You see Treyarch this is why your a failure to the Call Of Duty franchise! You made your games for kids! Not adults and then to top that off Filthy pics using the Emblems! Shame on you! Your all Perverts I guess! L!!

If I could boost it would be for the difficult games that I have yet to beat Call Of Duty World At War, The Uncharted games and Tomb Raider Underground as well as that shouldn't be required to get that stupid Platinum Black Op's not the main game I beat that! That stupid Zombie DLC plus the Zombie game! Stupid Treyarch if I wanted to play a zombie game it would be Left 4 Dead!

Anything outside playing legit, is cheating. Real gamers don't boost because they like playing, not playing games for trophies. Trophies gives you nothing in the real world.

Treyarch says:
It is cheating, if your get caught boosting on Black Ops you get banned

Tufty says:
It's cheating in the sense that if you use it too much, you're cheating yourself out of the satisfaction of getting the trophy the hard-but-fun way. As with walkthroughs and item lists, all thing in moderation.

How to Boost Playstation 3 Trophies
Basically there is two different ways to find people to boost with.
The first is by using your PS3 XMB (Cross Media Bar). All you have to do is go online on the game you want to boost on, play a few games and then go to your XMB and check out the people you have met (if you have explored your XMB you should have no problem finding this). You can then message people you have met in game and ask them if they want to trophy boost with you. This of course is long winded and you may not find any willing participants.
The second and best way to find people to boost with is by going to the forums, the best for this being at PS3Trophies where you will find plenty of people to boost with and if you don't know how to boost on the game you want to boost on, these people will help you.
Well, that's all there is to it. Everything else you will learn by trial and error.

- Most people don't boost all trophies, just usually the ones that are online and nearly impossible to get.
If you think it's cheating then you'd better never use a strategy guide or look up ANYTHING on the internet about the game you're playing when stuck, if you do you're a F***ing hypocrit...
