Trotter's Trail and the Picnic Shelters at Veterans Park

Trotter's Trail at Veterans Park in Pendleton SC is a beautiful 1400 foot long walking trail that winds through the woods adjacent to Barrett's Place Playground.  This asphalt trail is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and includes a beautiful bridge and entrance as well as benches in various locations.  Landscaping will continue with plans to include many dogwood trees.

Trotter's Trail became a project of the Friends of the Park organization in 2006 and is certainly an asset to the park and to the Town of Pendleton.  Trotter's Trail was made possible through the efforts of many volunteers and donors who worked very hard to make this trail become a reality.

The Trail was dedicated on November 14, 2009 in memory of Justin Trotter.  Justin's love of nature inspired friends and family to honor his memory with this trail.  Justin was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 12 while a student at Riverside Middle School in Pendleton South Carolina.  In September 2004 Justin lost his battle with the disease at the young age of 15.

Although Golf carts are not allowed on Trotter's Trail, we made an exception in order to film this video. Ed Kirkley drove me around our beautiful Trotter's Trail in his golf cart while I filmed. It was a fun time. Thank you, Ed.
