Troyes, France: A Lovely Medieval Town
The lovely Medieval City of Troyes, also known as the city of 10 churches, is located about 90 miles southeast of Paris in the Region of Champagne-Ardenne.
This lovely city is shaped like a cork of a champagne bottle. Coincidentally since the Aube region is famous for the production of Champagne and wine.
Considered the French Capital of the textile industry, Troyes is home to both Lacoste and Petit Bateau brands. Even Benetton has made of Troyes home to part of its base production.
Just outside of Troyes you will find two large outlet malls where you can buy world famous brands.

Cathedrale St Pierre et St Paul
Gothic Architecture at Troyes

The Cathedral of St Pierre et St Paul is a beautiful example of Gothic Architecture.
The Cathedral in Troyes was originally built in the 9th Century as a Romanesque building. It was partially destroyed by the Norman invasion so it was repaired in the 10th Century.
The actual Gothic Cathedral was started around 1200 and the works went through the 17th Century but it was never finished, leaving the Cathedral with only one tower.
The Order of The Knights Templar was founded by Hugues de Payns in 1128 and confirmed at St. Pierre et St. Paul by the Catholic Council of Troyes.
The town of Payns is just 15 minutes away, there the Musée Hugues de Payns offers great information about these Knights.
Another interesting historical fact is that Joan of Arc entered the City of Troyes riding side by side with, at the time, Dauphin Charles, future King Charles VII.

- Beautiful lens. I have not been to France, but we are working hard on a trip to Europe.
I would be a knight. While I would appear roguish, my heart would be pure.
