Trucking

One thing about the trucking industry is products always need to be moved.  That is until no one buys anything, which is unlikely to ever happen. The industry does have a lot of turn over as a truck driving jobs are not for everyone.  As a result truck driving schools are always trying to fill classes to train new drivers.

Trucking Jobs - Is one right for you?

What types of trucking jobs are available in the trucking industry?

There are many different trucking jobs in the transportation industry. Here are a few to consider:

Truck Driver - There are different types of truck driving jobs such as local driver and over the road (OTR) drivers. If you want to drive a big rig you may also need to earn your cdl license. If you go to a trucking school they will most likely help prepare you to take the exam but you may also want to use some other cdl test prep materials.

Owner operators - Basically owner operator jobs are the same truck driver jobs with the essential difference being they are independent contractors who own the truck and operate their individual business.

Diesel service technicians - Of course not all trucking jobs (excluding the trucking management jobs and administrative jobs) are for drivers, someone also has to make sure the big diesel trucks are working. These are usually diesel mechanic technician jobs who specialize in working with diesel engines in various equipment such as heavy trucks, buses, locomotives, bulldozers, etc..

Most people that decide to enter the trucking profession as a driver end up going to a truck driving school or trade school. The same is true for the mechanics, they usually go to a diesel mechanics training school.
