How hard is it to get through trucking school?

If you go to a private trucking school they will probably make sure you pass and get your cdl. If you go to a company trucking school they will take the best students leaving a few behind. Even if they let you go one week into the training you will be responsible for a portion of the cost of training!! This can be over $1,000 for less than a week!

Trucking School

What is the best trucking school?

I have received multiple emails asking the question "What is the best truck driving school?" or "Where do you recommend I get truck driver training?" Should you pay out of pocket or sign a contract with a trucking company school for free truck driver training?

I don't know anyone who can claim to be an expert on truck driving schools or the best method to pay for your truck driving school! The fact is most people have only gone to one trucking school and if for some reason they have gone to more than one I would stay clear of them!

The choice of a trucking company school or a private truck driving school is a personal one and depends on your unique situation. Location, money, time etc. The only comment I really have on paying for a truck driving school would be if you can pay on your own go ahead.

If you are paying out of pocket make sure that the school has job placement with a decent trucking company! Some trucking companies will reimburse you all or part of your tuition depending on how long you drive a truck for them. You will have no commitment to any trucking company and can move on when you feel like it if you pay for your CDL training out of your own pocket. You can judge the quality of a truck driving school by the job placement they provide.

If several large trucking companies recruit from a particular truck driving school graduate pool, that particular trucking school probably trains students well or the big trucking companies would not want to use that truck driving school has a hiring pool. Company trucking schools will usually train you well because you will be working for them and driving their trucks! Make sense?

After you have been driving for a while you will realize that most of your learning is on the road and the truck driving school served no other purpose than just getting your CDL, learning the basics, and job placement.

I personally went through the Schneider training academy when I started driving and I can say it was a good school and that they probably over train their students. Schneider is known for having one of the best truck driving schools in the trucking industry but I have nothing to compare the experience with. I only went through truck driving school truck driving school one time myself.

I know this sounds insane, but here goes. I am told that I look like a super model. I don't say it everyone else does. With that said I just returned from a orientation that took two days on a bus to get to and two days to get because of another woman who was jealous getting rid of me, because she felt threatened like most of the woman in this industry does. I can't tell these companies to please help me with the women running these classes, the women dispatchers cause they get jealous of me. They would think I was crazy. It is getting ridicious though. The things that these woman have done to keep out of their company is unbeleivable and if I tell anyone before getting into the company about it they would not hire me. I'm a excellant driver. No tickets no accidents in two yrs. driving truck. None before that either. I need to write a book I think about the things I have gone through in the last two yrs. I just need to find a company where it is run by men and have men dispatchers also

I went to truck driver training program and to get in they ran my credit to get a loan through some company they use that pays then up front for each student ...like 8,000 per student. They also ran my DAC and MVR so I was approved to go. Then they said there were costs that were not covered in the loan amount about 300. After my first week I had my permit. The following week I started to fill out some applications. Within a couple days I had two pre hire requests from big companies. I still had my hopes up. Passed the state exam got my CDL class A. I get to one of the chosen companies orientation and before I could take the drug screen and physical they sent me home for something on my MVR. And the next company did the same thing. Now shouldn't the school be responsible for that loan if they couldn't guarantee me the job they were selling at their orientation? Because the school ran my MVR so they should know what these companies are looking for. I believe I got scammed.

several years ago i was unemployed and noticed an ad in the local paper for a cdl truck driving training program at the local vocational high school.it was a 2 month program taught by a crusty old viet nam vet who claimed he was too old to drive full time but enjoyed teaching and being home each night.there was a foreign born woman in the class who had married an American trucker and wanted to drive with him over the road.after 2 months of class and driving ,(i was her driving partner),she thanked me and said if it wasn't for me,she never would have passed because the other male students teased her a lot.maybe they felt threatened by a female foreign driver, but i was glad to help her. the last week of class a recruiter came and asked if anyone wanted to drive cross country but no one responded, and after reading the blogs about all the disastrous driving schools and recruitment lies, i guess until i read your book,i don't think the industry is worth losing sleep over. thanks

I went to C.R. England driving school in Indiana..It was Horrible not to mention it cost 3 thousand dollars. They make you turn in your license and test for a indiana license(you pay the fees) 4 days in classroom then cdl permit test, 4 days on driving course with 6 or 7 to a truck in a dirt yard with huge pot holes and would flood if it rained. then you take your cdl test with little training and 3 strikes to get it. I passed and got my CDL Sept 07 but out of the 32 that started only 7 of us got CDL'S and none of us are at C.R. England..They wanted you to immediately go on the road with a trainer earning 50 bucks a day for driving 11 hours a day(less than min. wage) then if you were with a dedicated driver who got home some weekends he would leave you at a truck stop while he was home. They try to get you to sign a 3 year lease after that offering the oppt to be your own boss. But your responsible for every expense, I know drivers who owed the company money after driving 3000 miles

The Truth About Trucking Jobs

The truth about trucking jobs is that there are a lot of them! There are thousands of trucking companies and millions of trucking jobs in this country. The trucking industry isn't going anywhere and unless they build railroad tracks in the place of every highway in the country, trucking jobs are here to stay. The truth is, there are great career trucking opportunities and hundreds of different trucking jobs to choose from.

Like in any other industry, you will find that there are good trucking jobs and bad trucking jobs. For example, in the restaurant industry you could work for in fast food joint or a five star restaurant. The trucking job market is no different. The majority of trucking jobs fall into the $35,000-$45,000 dollar pay range. Usually drivers will be gone for 2-3 weeks with this type of trucking job. I consider this to be the fast food type job of all the trucking jobs available.

The best trucking jobs will pay over $65,000 dollars a year and truck drivers can make as much as $100,000 or more with a great trucking job. Then add the fact that a lot of these top paying trucking jobs enable truck drivers to be home everyday and you have a five star trucking job.

If you happen to be in the market for a career change, give trucking some serious thought and consideration. Most trucking companies offer excellent benefits and like any other job market there are different levels of jobs available. The truth is that you can make a lot of money driving a truck and it doesn't have to be a lifestyle.

You can make more money that most college graduates and enjoy all the freedom these trucking jobs have to offer. There are trucking jobs available and truck drivers don't have to live in a truck or be away from home with a fivestar trucking job!

If you keep the job you have where will you be in ten years?

Highest Paying Entry Level Jobs

After doing a few searches on the internet for the highest paying entry level jobs I was dumbfounded. Every website and search result is geared toward college graduates and starting salaries for people with specific degrees! The fact is that most anyone that is searching for an entry level job is doing so because they did not go to college.

Without any doubt trucking jobs are the highest paid entry level jobs that a person can get without going to college. Not only are trucking jobs the best entry level jobs you wont be wasting 4 - 8 years in school and spending tens of thousands in tuition and expenses. You will be earning money immediately. You can get into the trucking industry and get trained without spending one dollar out of your pocket! Most trucking company schools even pay students while they are being trained! With a little ambition and a good plan a person can get a trucking job and out perform even the top college graduate starting salaries driving a truck.

With as little as three months experience driving a truck I was able to get a trucking job with a trucking company enabling me to make over $60,000 a year with the ability to be home everyday! I have searched jobs for months and I have not found any entry level positions anywhere that will pay this type of money without a college degree.

Not only are trucking jobs the best entry level jobs but the freedom these jobs have to offer is unparalleled. There are thousands of trucking companies and many different types of trucking jobs available each year. With a CDL and the need for truck drivers you will have job security that few industries can offer you as an employee.

All you need is a drivers license if you are looking to make college graduate type wages with one of the highest paying entry level jobs in the country. Trucking jobs!
