Trucking Music- getting to the heart of trucking!

There's something about the old time trucking songs that's missing from today's country. Sure, some of today's artists have trucking songs or have done remakes of some of the old greats... but nothing compares to the real thing.

Roll On Big Mama

Roll on, (roll on) big mama,
I like the way you sing,
roll on (roll on) big mama,
the night time lets her breathe,
well, the feel of the wheel delivers me
from a life where I don't wanna be and the diesel smoke
with every stroke sings a song with a heavy note

and ramblin is the life I chose,
sittin here between the doors,
and the yellow line a keepin' time,
the things that's a runnin through my mind,
through my mind

roll on (roll on) big mama,
I like the way you roll
roll on (roll on) big mama,
you are my very soul

On through the snow and the drivin' rain,
to the forty-below in Bangor, Maine,
to the hundred-and-ten in the Texas sun,
there ain't no road that we ain't run,
Up through the Colorado mountain tops,
Down to the desert where Reno stops,
there ain't no road that we ain't seen,
we ain't seen

roll on (roll on) big mama,
you're singing out my song,
roll on (roll on) big mama,
the highway is our home,
roll on(roll on) big mama,

hey anybody got a copy on this silver roadhog?
what's the smokey situation down the way, boys?
Mighty fine, I'm a commin I'm a commin

A Tombstone Every Mile

All you big and burly men who roll the trucks along
Better listen, you'll be thankful when you hear my song
You have really got it made, if you're haulin' goods
Anyplace on earth but those Hainesville Woods

It's a stretch of road up north in Maine
That's never, ever, ever seen a smile
If they buried all the truckers lost in them Woods
There'd be a tombstone every mile
Count 'em off, there'd be a tombstone every mile

When you're loaded with potatoes and you're headed down
You've gotta drive the Woods to get to Boston town
When it's winter up in Maine, better check it over twice
That Hainesville road is just a ribbon of ice

It's a stretch of road up north in Maine
That's never, ever, ever seen a smile
If they buried all the truckers lost in them Woods
There'd be a tombstone every mile
Count 'em off, there'd be a tombstone every mile

When you're talkin' to a trucker that's been haulin' goods
Down that stretch of road in Maine they call the Hainesville Woods
He'll tell you that dying and goin' down below
Won't be half as bad as driving on that road of ice and snow

It's a stretch of road up north in Maine
That's never, ever, ever seen a smile
If they buried all the truckers lost in them Woods
There'd be a tombstone every mile
Count 'em off, there'd be a tombstone every mile

Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves

I'm a drivin' this truck for a mountain road I got a hot rod rig and I'm a flyin' low.
My eyes're filled with diesel smoke air fan curves ain't no joke.
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves...
I was out last night drinkin' beer with the guys,
Got an achin' head and blood shot eyes.
I ended up with a pretty little dame I didn't even know her name.
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves...
If I deliver this hot shot plate I gotta get a goin' cause I'm runnin' late.
These mountain grades are mighty steep,
Can't stay away there ain't had no sleep.
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves...

There's a cute little waitress at the bottom of the grades,
She's got hot coffee already made.
I gotta keep my eyes upon the road cause I'm goin' down the hill heavy load.
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves...
Well I must have closed my eyes for a while casuse here I am and I'm a runnin' wild.
I turn my brakes strip my gears gonna have to ride her down I fear.
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves.
I wish I'd left the wind alone but it's too late now cause I think I'm gone.
I got myself into this fix just because I drive to mix.
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves...
Diesel smoke, dangerous curves...

About coopsareopen

Truckers hear a lot of rumors. The problem is that many rumors aren't true. Weigh stations and DOT rules affect the way truckers make their business decisions. Those decisions need to be made based on facts, not on rumors. Coopsareopen.com is dedicated to bringing the truth about weigh stations and DOT rules to truckers. When and where is it legal to go around the scales? When and where is it legal to run heavy or over-gross? Coopsareopen.com provides tips on what weigh stations and states are lenient. And we provide information on verified alternate routes, traps to watch out for and places to park when you'd rather wait them out when DOT is on the prowl.
