If you don't have your own website or product to sell, the easiest way to get started is to become an affiliate marketer.

Choose a product that you are interested in, eg herbal remedies, naturopathic treatments, car accessories, weight loss products, mobile phones. The main thing is to find a product that you feel happy to advertise and sell, so follow your own interests and you will probably have a better chance of success.

There are many affiliate marketing sites on the internet so do a search in your interest area and see what appeals to you. Check out their products, payment methods, percentages and their terms and conditions etc before signing up. Its a good idea to check out their FAQ page as you can glean a lot of information from it.

Once you find something that you feel is right for you, sign up.

Fishpond is a site where you can buy and sell books, a good way to make a little cash from books, cds, dvds etc that you no longer want. You can join just as a buyer/seller or as an affiliate - or both.

AdPTC is a site I have used for quite a while to make a little cash from clicking. They do actually
pay out.

Once you have signed up as an affiliate with your chosen company you will need to advertise it if you are going to have any chance of success in affiliate marketing.

Traffic Exchanges are a good way to do this for little or no cost to you. Its better to sign up with more than one TE so that your site will be seen by more people. Its easy to find a TE as there are many thousands of them - each offering different things. As with finding an affiliate marketing site to advertise, do a search and check the TE's out thoroughly before joining to get the best deals. You don't want to have to pay to join or you will be out of pocket before you start.

Once you find your TE's then add your referral link for your site and start surfing to earn credits to advertise your site.

If you have a particular skill or are good at making things, eg. knitting, crocheting, making furniture, writing e books or any number of other possibilities, you can make a little cash by selling these online. You can also sell unwanted goods you may have at home like books you no longer want, or clothes, shoes, furniture etc.
There are many sites you can join where you can buy and sell like Ebay, Bidmate, Amazon, Fishpond etc. Many people do very well on these sites, especially the better known ones. Many will let you set up your own store under their umbrella.

If you have the knowledge you can set up your own website to promote your products and items for sale and advertise them on the Traffic Exchanges.
It may take a little while to make your first sale but once you get started it can be
a handy little sideline or even a profitable business if you make enough sales.

Now you have signed up as an affiliate marketer and found a couple of traffic exchanges to advertise your site you will definitely need payment processors to make sure that your earnings will get to you.

Once again, there are many payment processors and you can do a search and check them out before joining. Some are better than others and some often turn out to be disreputable. Be very careful who you trust.
