Welcome to T-Shirts to Color

Here you'll find pre-printed outline designs on tee shirts, by artist Cheryl Paton, that can be colored in. Tips and supplies to color in your shirts are here too. By beginning with a simple design, kids, teens, and adults can easily add to the design using their own creativity. It's a fun way to encourage anyone to create art, especially when they get to wear their creations!

Choose from simple drawing designs to for the beginner, to drawings with more flare for the more advanced.

Cheryl Paton is the artist that designs the color in designs. A wonderful company, Zazzle, places the designs on the the shirts and ships them to the customer when an order is placed.

Once you've selected an art design and clicked on it, it will take you to an ordering page. If it says customize in the lower right hand corner, you can add or change words, the font, font color, and more.

Wash and dry the shirts first without the use of fabric softener, for best paint adherence.

Color in tip #2

Place a sheet of cardboard between the two layers of fabric of the shirt(s)s to keep the back of the shirt and your working surface clean of paint.

Different ways for the artist(s) to color in

The artist gets to decide if they want to stay inside the lines or color outside the lines.

The artist can fill in the space with dots, called pointillism, or with other shapes.

The artist can add their own details to the design, i.e. a ball for the cat, grass for the lizard, etc.

Great for a family or birthday party activity!

Color in shirts can be a family activity and/or a birthday party activity.

What type of paint should I use to color in with? 

Washable fabric markers can be used for multiple times of coloring-in fun.

Permanent fabric markers or paint markers can be used for a permanent colored in design.

Fabric paint with paint brushes can also be used, but may require more supervision and also more cleanup.

Squeezable fabric paint can be used for a permanent design that is also dimensional.

Follow any manufacturers instructions.

Washable Markers 

Washable markers can be used if you want a temporary design.

In my experience, the colors of regular markers tend to bleed more and may not give as sharp of an edge. But, they are washable.

Painters Markers 

Another option for permanent coloring in is paint markers. I've used the acrylic ones and they wash up fine. When using paint markers, make sure to test the flow on an alternate piece of fabric, and to only dab without pushing when painting on the actual piece.
