"Dr. Berger is an amazing surgeon. He truly emphasizes your care and comfort throughout the surgical procedure. The supporting staff is a gentle and nurturing one; very compassionate and in tune to making the experience a relaxed one. I came all the way from California to see Dr. B and both my husband and I felt welcomed and treated with courtesy and respect the entire time we were there. I have had excellent contact by phone, always prompt and friendly, since I came back home. I feel blessed to have a second chance. Thank you Dr. B and thank you CHTRC staff! You're the best!"
"Dr. Berger and his staff were awesome!!!! They were extremely kind and patient, very approachable, and every detail of my surgery and recovery were explained. I only needed pain medication the first night following my surgery and I was able to resume my normal activities the next day. I would highly recommend Dr. Berger to everyone considering tubal reversal surgery. God has granted him the power to make miracles happen." Shelia TR 06/08/07
"The care I received from Dr. Berger was phenomenal. It was the most professional and compassionate medical experience I have ever had. The follow up care has been just as impressive even now, over a year and a half later. Dr. Berger is the best choice a couple could possibly make." Julia and Kevin Disorda - Vermont
"Dr. Berger and his staff are just amazing, not only as people but at the work they do. I traveled from California to see Dr. Berger and could not be happier with my decision. I was so pleased with how fast my recovery was and that I had no pain after the surgery. Dr. Berger and staff are there for you whenever you need them, and will make you feel as if you are family." Sharon Lincoln - California
"I had a TL in '05. Two weeks before my menses I would get terrible leg cramps, severe mood swings, and very depressed. When my menses would arrive I would be in severe pain. I did some research and found about PTLS. Dr. Berger did my TR Feb '07. I was amazed even after the surgery I didn't have to take many pain relievers. My periods are shorter and the pain is almost non existent." Mary Hill Mount Bethel, PA
Making Tubal Reversal Comfortable
The Best Surgical And Anesthetic Techniques
Tubal reversal surgery traditionally has been a major operation with several days of recovery in a hospital due to postoperative pain and disability. These can be avoided.Postoperative pain following abdominal surgery comes mainly from muscle and connective tissue injury. Abdominal retractors (metal instruments that pull back on the skin, connective tissues, and muscles) are traditionally used to give wide exposure to the pelvic organs during surgery. Pressure from abdominal retractors causes reduced blood flow to the retracted tissues, resulting in postoperative pain. The operation is best performed without retractors.
Surgical packs (large gauze pads) traditionally are placed into the abdomen to push the intestines away from the pelvic organs during surgery. Packs cause postoperative bloating due to intestinal irritation. These can be avoided also.
Injecting a local anesthetic where surgery is performed - even though the patient is asleep during the procedure - further minimizes postoperative pain. (This is called preemptive analgesia.)
These are some of the ways I make tubal reversal surgery comfortable for patients. Making surgery comfortable improves recovery, avoids the need for hospitalization, and results in a low cost tubal reversal procedure.

- DELIA OCASIO - Most insurance companies do not reimburse for tubal reversal surgery. However, it depends on the specific policy so if you have health insurance, it is worth reading your policy regarding excluded procedures.

- MELISSA - The symptoms you describe have often been called Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. Since there is no specific insurance code for this diagnosis, however, most insurance companies do not reimburse for its treatment.

I want to have a TR done but want my insurance to cover the cost. I can not affor dto pay for it up front and then wait to be re embursed. Is there any way to find out if the TR can be deemed medically neccessary and my insurance cover it?

- I have been having horrfic pains since my tubes have been tied, I was told today by my GYN that it is most likelly due to my tubaligation, something about backward flow into the tubes causing pain, I asked if it would be better to have my tubes reversed, he said it would most likely solve my problem and i could use the shot for birth control which is fine for me. Is there anyone who knows of a doctor who can do this and if it is a medical issue and not a pregnancy issue, whihc I am 37 with 2 grown kids and single, so that would not be the case, will insurance possibly cover the surgery, please help.
Thanks,
