Spring Comes Early in Washington State
I was fortunate to be able to drive up to the Skagit Valley area to see the tulip festival this April. Every April, the Skagit valley area of Washington blooms with acres of tulips.
Be sure to plan your trip for sometime in April!
Here are some pictures I took and a sampling of info to help you plan your trip :)
Fields and Fields of Tulips.....
Red, Orange, Pink, and Yellow Tulips fill the land. It is a beautiful rainbow that is so easy to enjoy, even again as I look through my photos.

The Tulip Trolley
One of the reasons we chose to visit the Tulip Town is because they have a Tulip Tractor Trolley, which is a rebuilt 1947 dairy feed wagon. It was a very bumpy ride, but it was a great way for Grandma to see the whole tulip fields, since she has trouble walking.

Taking Tulip Pictures
If you go on a busy day, you will have lots of chances to take pictures of people as well as the tulips. People watching is lots of fun, especially when people are having such great fun with their family!I love to take flower pictures. Try taking pictures from many different angles so that you have some unique pictures.
If you squat down close to the ground, you can get a different view.
For close up views, be sure to turn on your macro or close-up function so that your pictures will come out clear.
I like to experiment with the use of flash on close up pictures. Sometimes turning on flash at a low setting will give just enough light to make a close up picture of a tulip glow.

Things to Remember for Your Trip
- Bring a Good Map - There may be lots of traffic and you may need to make a detour.
- Bring Your Camera and Extra Batteries for once-a-year picture taking opportunities!
- Check out the weather at zipcode 98273 (rain makes for muddy fields and less fun)
Where did you travel recently?
Please tell me about it, or if you are feeling especially creative, you can make a page like this one (for free).... It's fun and easy :) If you do make a page, be sure to leave a guestbook entry here with the link!

Have you ever been to the tulip festival in Woodburn, Oregon? It's pretty amazing, too, with a clear view of Mt. Hood on the horizon. Posted August 28, 2008 |
