Free Ring Sizer
Most people do not know their ring size. Ensuring that you purchase the right size is imperative and can prove often times a challenge. Especially men's wedding bands. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the ring should slide easily off the finger without any resistance. The truth is, the ring should twist off rather than slide of pull off. Otherwise, the ring could easily slip off the
finger. Especially if your hands get wet.
When it comes to tungsten rings, it is especially
important to get the correct sized ring since
tungsten is so hard that it cannot be re-sized.
According to Ron Yates, founder of Titanium-Jewelry.com,
"most people tend to order rings too large and have
to send the ring back for a size exchange."
So, as a solution to this problem,
Titanium-Jewelry.com is now offering a free
ring sizer.
In addition to their free ring sizer, Titanium-
Jewelry.com also has a "Ring for Life" program, which
guarantees a lifetime of properly fitting rings.
FAQ's About Tungsten Rings
What's the difference between Tungsten Rings and Tungsten Carbide Rings?
Some retailers will sell tungsten rings that are not combined with carbide. This is something to be very careful to watch out for, as a ring made only of tungsten is basically nothing more than a steel ring. In other words, it is very hard, but not scratch proof.
Tungsten carbide can only be scratched by a diamond, or a material equally as hard!
Should I be concerned with cobalt in my ring?
Absolutely! Cobalt is easier to procure, making them less expensive to manufacture. So a lot of jewelers will purchase rings made with cobalt to lower the cost. However, rings that contain cobalt will develop a negative reaction to your skin. After a short period of time, the ring will oxidize and discolored spots will begin to develop that cannot be removed or polished out.
Make sure that you purchase a ring free of cobalt.
Can a tungsten carbide ring be removed in case of an emergency?
Although tungsten carbide is very hard, it is also brittle. So, a ring made out of tungsten carbide can be easily removed by cracking it into pieces with standard vice-grip pliers. Standard ring cutters will not work.
To remove a tungsten carbide ring in an emergency situation, you can follow these simple steps:
- Clamp the vice-grip pliers loosely on the ring.
- Tighten slowly until you hear a crack.
- Remove vice-grip and place in another position on the ring.
- Repeat steps 1 through 3 until the material breaks away.
Take care not to slide or rotate the cracked ring on the finger. If the ring contains an inlay of gold, or other soft materials, the inlay can be cut or clipped away in the usual fashion.
Can a tungsten carbide ring be resized?
Unfortunately, no. Tungsten carbide is just too tough to be sized. So you want to be very careful to only buy your ring from a jeweler that offers a lifetime resizing warranty. Unless, of course, you don't ever plan on gaining or losing any weight for the rest of your life.

Why Choose Tungsten Rings?
Imagine wearing a ring that is permanently polished and always looks new!
Discover the incredible look, feel and durability of tungsten carbide rings and wedding bands. Tungsten rings offer the perfect combination of unbelievable strength, scratch resistance, and style and comfort, a combination you will not find in any other ring.
Tungsten, carbon and other elements are ground into a powder and then compressed with high pressure dies to form a ring blank. In a process that is known as sintering, the blank is then fired in an oxygen free furnace at an astounding 6,200 degrees Fahrenheit. The ring is then cut and shaped using diamond tools with approximately thirty more steps required for completion. The cutting and shaping of a tungsten ring is very similar to the process used to cut and polish a rough diamond.
Tungsten rings can also be inlaid with gold, silver, platinum, or Mokume-gane by grinding a channel in the center of the ring and wedging the material into the channel under extreme pressure.
The ring is then polished with diamond polishing tools and wheels, creating a permanent luster and shine that you will not see with other materials. A tungsten carbide ring will remain polished forever and never scratch.
Hard Facts about Tungsten Rings
Tungsten is the only metal used in jewelry that can be permanently polished. Other materials such as gold, platinum and even titanium will suffer varying degrees of scratching and denting. However, with tungsten rings, the surface will maintain it's original, beautiful, shiny finish indefinitely!
Hard Facts About Tungsten Carbide Rings
- Tungsten rings are the most wear resistant rings available on the planet.
- Tungsten is about 10 times harder than 18K Gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium.
- Tungsten measures between 8 and 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. (Diamonds are a 10 - the highest.)
- Due to their extreme hardness, Tungsten Rings will hold their shape and shine longer than any ring on the market.
- Tungsten rings have been referred to as the "Permanently Polished Rings".
- Tungsten rings will NOT bend.
- Each tungsten ring is individually hand crafted using assorted diamond abrasives and poly crystalline diamond tooling.
- In the event of an emergency, a ring can be removed by a medical professional.
