So What's This Turbo Fire Workout All About?

I don't know about you, but it seems like there's a hundred different killer workouts out there just begging to be tried. The latest to hit the market is Turbo Fire, a 12 week cardio workout that blends High Intensity Interval Training, resistance training and intense cardio to give you a total body transformation. It actually sounds a lot like the Insanity Workout (also all cardio), but seems to be focused on shorter workouts that provide a wider variety of exercises.

So what's the deal? Is the Turbo Fire workout all that?

I just received my Turbo Fire workout (ordered it as soon as it was made available!), and am going to go through the contents of the box, and let you know what I think of the workouts (already watched a bunch of them). I've got lots of experience with other Beachbody workouts (am currently doing the infamous P90X workout), and so will be able to tell you where on the totem pole this new one should be.

First Impression: You'll love this cardio workout if you are already fit, determined to get extreme results, and love a challenge. The HIIT workouts (Click here to learn more about HIIT) are super intense, and even the 'EZ' cardio workouts are rough. However, if you stick with it, you can't help but get in shape.

What Kind of Workout Is This?

People Jumping Like Crazy The heart of Turbo Fire seems to be the H.I.I.T workouts. That stands for High Intensity Interval Training, and is basically a way to try and provoke a heart attack. HIIT workouts are maximum, all out bursts of effort that you do for short periods of time. So you go as hard as you can for about 30 or 45 seconds, then relax for 30 or 45 seconds, and then go again. And I mean all out effort, holding nothing back. Seeing red, unable to breath, heart attack time kind of effort. HIIT workouts are awesome in that they force your body to work in the anaerobic zone, which provokes a bunch of adaptions from your body.

So you do a HIIT workout every other day, and in between you do a Fire Workout, or some Sculpting or Core work. Basically it's crazy cardio with some resistance band and stretching thrown in for good fun.

Beachbody states that with HIIT you can burn up to 9 x more fat over the next 48 hours due to the way your body responds. I think they got these numbers from their test group, but still, sounds pretty incredible.

Final Thoughts

(Will change as I work my way through the workouts)

Chalene looks pretty pleased

So Turbo Fire reminds me a lot of the Insanity Workout, but with a few crucial differences. For one, there's resistance training. Two, you do HIIT every other day (click here to learn more about HIIT), with plenty of variation in between, as opposed to Insanity where you do Max Interval Training every day. Also, Insanity is uniformly 45 minutes + per workout, while Turbo Fire seems to be shorter (first HIIT is 15 miinutes!) So probably easier on your joints, too.

So yes! Looks very exciting. And I haven't even spoken about the Nutrition Guide, or how awesome and informative it is (tells you how to read ingredient panels on food, how much to eat, what to eat, why to eat it, when, pretty much everything). The music is awesome (Chalene mixes the beats herself to coincide with every kick and jump), and the before and after pictures of the people who have done it are awesome.

Looks like Beachbody has created another awesome product ;)
