When showing your horse, you want him or her to be in the best condition possible. In this case, looks are a major part of the package. You look great, so why shouldn't your horse?

Short answer: YES! A good looking horse is far more appealing to not only judges, but other riders and owners as well. Completing the look of your horse makes you look better as well.
