Lake Trasimeno, the largest lake on the Italian peninsular, is nearby and provides opportunities for boat trips, sailing, windsurfing & kite surfing. The north west shore of the Lake was the site of The Battle of Lake Trasimeno, a terrible defeat for the Romans when they were ambushed by the Carthaginian general, Hannibal in 217 BC.

There is an excellent riding stable close to most of our villas & the hills of the Tuscany Umbria Border are great for walking. Every town seems to hold it's own festival, this often involves dressing up in medieval costume and always involves wine! There are many excellent restaurants in Tuscany and Umbria, so a good meal is never far away.

Villas are rented on a weekly basis, usually Saturday to Saturday. The Tuscany Umbria border is served by several airports (Perugia, Florence, Pisa, Rome, Bologna and Ancona) with Perugia being the nearest. Many villas in Tuscany and Umbria are at the end of unpaved roads, so car hire is essential. It is possible to arrive by train and pick up a hire car in Cortona.
