Tustin Chiropractic - Help Your Body To Feel Good Again

Many times the only occasion that makes us think about a chiropractor is when we feel like we have a misalignment of our spine. The truth is chiropractic care is about much more than manipulations. No matter what kind of musculoskeletal dysfunction you are experiencing, a Tustin Chiropractics doctor can help.

More Than Just Adjustments

Of course, most chiropractors are still doing adjustments of the joints and spine, but they rarely limit themselves to just these. And, as with many other techniques, they have progressed a great deal over time. Often, the newer techniques are gentler than the old ones. These may be more suitable, then, for the weak and the elderly.

It may sound like a sitcom script, but people really do wait until they have so much back pain that they cannot get out of bed before visiting a chiropractor. While the doctor normally can help, it is best when you make regular chiropractic appointments to keep from having problems. Seeing a doctor of chiropractics on a regular basis will allow you to build up a relationship of trust and also gives the doctor a chance to get to know your body when it is well.

In any case, do seek out help before the pain is overwhelming or it makes it impossible to move. Chiropractors are well versed in problems with the musculoskeletal system. They are good health care practitioners to start with as they can have tests done, such as x-rays or MRIs, to find out how serious the problem is and just where it is located.

Treatment

After making a diagnosis, a treatment plan will be developed. Spinal and joint manipulation may still be part of the overall plan, but many other therapies may be added as well. Some of these include myofascial release, massage, hot and cold compresses and ultrasound. A device that uses electric pulsations to aid tension in the muscles and pain, a Tens unit, may be part of the treatment as well. The chiropractor may have units for loan to patients that can be used between visits at home.

Chiropractors often have great networks of other types of practitioners that they can refer to if need be. Some even have massage therapists, physical therapists and/or acupuncturists in the office. Orthopedic surgeons may also be referred to if necessary.

An extremely important part in any Pain Management plan is physical rehabilitation. Some exercises may be done in the office, but you should have a plan to follow at home as well. Exercises will help to regain normal use of any affected parts, build up strength and prevent further problems.

It's Easy

Chiropractors tend to be proactive and holistic. They should give you pointers on lifestyle adjustments that can help. This could include exercise, supplements, dietary advice and postural advice. Sometimes the seemingly simplest changes can make a huge difference, such as sleeping in a different position.

For maintenance or for treatment of a specific health concern, there is a doctor that can help you. Of course, a personal referral is always best if possible. Failing that, you can check the California Chiropractic Association website for a doctor near you. You will not be sorry you did. Get the facts about Health & Wellness.
