Frasier - The TV Show

The Doctor Is In!

Dr. Frasier Crane was so much funnier to me once he moved to Seattle and settled in to his own show.  The characters and the dialogue of this series were the epitome of perfection for an ensemble cast show.  These were shows that could legitimately make me laugh out loud and giggle uncontrollably.  If you loved the show like I did, you'll find some information here to bring back good memories.  If you never had a chance to watch it, you can still watch in reruns, and the information below will help you decide that you really do want to seek it out.

"Tossed Salad And Scrambled Eggs" ~ What Are Those Words??

Have you been wondering what the words are to the Frasier theme song (and the different endings)? Well then, here you go:

Written By: Darryl Phinessee & Bruce Miller

Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin',
Tossed salad and scrambled eggs

Oh My
Mercy! (sometimes "Quite stylish")

And maybe I seem a bit confused,
Yeah maybe, but I got you pegged!
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!

But I don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
They're callin' again.

There were several different last lines of the Frasier theme song used from week to week.

1. They're callin' again.
2. Good night, Seattle, we love you.
3. What is a boy to do. Good night.
4. Frasier has left the building.
5. Thank You!
6. Scambled eggs all over my face. What is a boy to do. Goodnight, everybody.
7. See you next year, we love ya.

I'll Bet You Didn't Know ~~

Frasier Trivia:

  1. Kelsey Grammer is the only actor to be nominated for an Emmy for the same role on three different TV series. Cheers and Frasier are the two obvious ones. He was also nominated for his guest-appearance as Frasier Crane on the TV show, "Wings".
  2. If the phone-in callers to Frasier's radio show sounded especially realistic to you, it's probably due to the fact that actors would often phone in their lines rather than come to the studio to read them!
  3. Like most of us, Kelsey Grammer has had good times and bad in his life. His father and sister were both murdered in separate incidents. His brother was killed by a shark attack. Kelsey himself has had many problems with substance abuse possibly somewhat due to those tradgedies.
  4. While many of us hear about the huge salaries that the cast of the series, "Friends" received, Kelsey Grammer's 2003-2004 salary of $38 million set the record as highest paid TV star!
  5. Frasier was the only TV series to have won five consecutive Emmys for "Outstanding Comedy Series" at the time it left the air!
  6. Before finding success as an actor, David Hyde Pierce worked as both a security guard and a tie salesman. He had no real love for wine or the opera until, believe it or not, John Mahoney (Martin Crane) introduced him to those cultural interests! David graduated from Yale with a major in both English and Theater Arts. One of his classmates was Jodie Foster who would later direct him in the movie, "Little Man Tate".
  7. David Hyde Pierce holds the record for most times nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Emmy for a single character.

The "Frasier" Cast

  • Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Frasier Crane: Grammer sang the song heard during the closing credits, "Tossed salad and scrambled eggs", by Bruce Miller and Daryl Phinessee. In the episode "Are You Being Served" it is revealed that Frasier and his brother Niles were named after two lab rats their mother was using in an experiment.
  • David Hyde Pierce as Dr. Niles Crane: In Season's 2's "The Show Where Sam Shows Up", one of the first things Sam Malone says when he first meets Niles is how he looks exactly like Frasier did when he first knew him back in Boston. In his previous series, "The Powers That Be", Hyde Pierce played a very similar character, a stuffy milquetoast with a mad passion for the maid.
  • John Mahoney as Martin Crane: In a final-season interview, Mahoney said the first offer he received to play Martin Crane consisted of a phone call from Grammer in which he asked, "Will you be my Dad?"
  • Jane Leeves as Daphne Moon: Leeves used a mixture of different Northern English accents to portray a stereotypical working class Briton. She is actually from Essex, in the south. Ms. Leeves was also once one of "Hill's Angels", the troupe of female extras on Benny Hill's shows.
  • Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle: (named in honor of a producer of Wings, which shares show creators with Frasier). Lisa Kudrow was originally cast as Roz, but was replaced before production began.
  • Moose (and Moose's son Enzo) as Eddie: the Jack Russell Terrier. Eddie received more fan mail than any other cast member in "Frasier".

Frasier And Niles Love Sherry - What Is It?

Sherry is a fortified wine, made in and around the town of Jerez, Spain. Hence in Spanish it is called "Vino de Jerez;" in fact, the word "sherry" is an Anglicized version of the town's name. According to Spanish law, Sherry must come from the small triangular area of the province of Cádiz between Jerez, Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and El Puerto de Santa María. In earlier times Sherry was known as sack (a rendering of the Spanish saca, meaning a removal from the solera), or more fully as Sherris sack.

Sherry differs from other wines because of how it is treated after fermentation. After fermentation is complete, it is fortified with brandy. Because the fortification takes place after fermentation, all natural sherries are dry; any sweetness is applied later. In contrast, port wine is fortified halfway through fermentation, stopping fermentation so not all the sugars are allowed to turn into alcohol and so leaving a sweet wine.
