Is It Legal To Watch Movies Online?
Most people notice that many of the movies and shows available to watch online are still in the movie theaters or not out on DVD and are curious about whether it is legal or safe to watch them online. Presently, if you are viewing these movies from inside the United States you may be at risk of being prosecuted. Canada, Sweden and many other countries are somewhat protected from prosecution from 'illegal' downloading or viewing. Even if it's not illegal in your country you should still acknowledge that you're enjoying all this media online for free, so in order to keep the trillion-dollar movie industry happy you should still try to spend money on movie tickets, DVD's, and even CD's. They may be rich and greedy but you're still getting great movies for free.

Watch Out For Add-Ons
Some video sites (not ones listed here) will ask you to install add-ons in order to watch the video. I have encountered these before and agreed to the add-on warning and my PC was immediately infected with a spyware virus. If you click on a video player and it asks to install an add-on that you don't recognize its safest to close the window and don't return to that site. NinjaVideo.net my #1 favorite site uses the DivX Web Player but requires you to click on their player link to open a box in a separate window during playing, which causes many new visitors confusion, they are safe and they're my top recommendation for video sites to visit.

Video Links
Most movie and video sites contain a collection of links to the videos you select instead of hosting the video files themselves. The most popular sites that are linked to are MegaVideo.com and ZShare.net and many others, some with their own video players and video quality. Lower video quality means faster download/streaming speeds. Since many of the newer video files on these sites are 'illegal' copies they are often removed causing many dead links. MegaVideo is most well known for that. Most videos have links where you can download the video file directly, although its much safer to stream the video online using their player since you can't always trust downloads from torrents and file sites.

Canadian Sites?
Many of the links on this page are for video sites that end in .ca and I am pretty sure if you live in another country the sites and video players should work for you also. The United States are the one's who put limitations on who can view their online video content.

SurfTheChannel.com causes this McAfee SiteAdvisor security warning: May cause a breach of browser security. This site attempted to make unauthorized changes to our test PC by exploiting a browser security vulnerability. This is a serious security threat which could lead to an infection of your PC.
I've seen this site being recommended by people and I'm not sure why it causes this warning with IE and Firefox, but it's recommended you not visit that site until it is resolved.

Firefox Ad Blocker
You should stick to using Firefox for watching videos online since IE has trouble with many sites. You also need to install the Firefox add-on called Ad Blocker since the best video sites like to cram the ads in your face constantly, and it will prevent the annoying full page ads from appearing. Don't go to NinjaVideo without having Ad Blocker enabled or you will get annoyed!


DivX Web Player
The best quality online video is played using the DivX Web Player. It is completely free and is a must for all internet browsers. Go to DivX.com or click here for the latest version.
I also recommend using the Firefox browser for all video sites.


MegaVideo.com is one of the most popular video sites online, because of its fast streaming/lower quality video, aspect ratio settings, and top selection of soon-to-be-removed new movies and videos. All the copyrighted movies and videos that aren't allowed on YouTube end up on MegaVideo. The majority of video sites online link to and store videos on MegaVideo.com and MegaUpload.com and the common issue among users is that once you've watched a total of 72 minutes you cannot continue watching again until you wait about 52 minutes or become a paying member of MegaVideo. Since most movies are just over 72 minutes long you may find yourself missing the endings of movies you watch with them.

There's only one down side to this amazing selection of free movies and shows but I've found out how to disable the problem, every time you click something at NinjaVideo and go to another screen a huge ad comes up and takes over the whole page until you click the skip ad button. They know their site is valuable so they really over use this, but you can easily disable annoying ads like these from ever interrupting you again. Firefox has a great free add-on called Ad Blocker, which prevents most ads from getting in your way. Just click on the Tools menu, then Add-Ons and click Get Add-Ons. Find the Ad Blocker and click the install button, and thats it! Firefox will restart and it should be working, you should still click on the add-ons menu again to make sure its been enabled.

Other than their shameless abuse of ad space, the site's video content is second to none. It amazes me they haven't been taken down forcefully by the movie industry yet, because this site makes it so easy for everyone to find literally the greatest online movies and tv shows that are available online. If you've never been to their site I promise your jaw will hit the floor when you see what's available at your fingertips.

Here you can watch an enormous collection of tv and movies, if you missed your favorite show on tv it can be available here to watch the same night it was broadcast, most of the movies are so new they haven't been released to theatres yet. Although you could find links to these movies at many other places of varying quality, NinjaVideo chooses only the best copies available and gives it to you using their NinjaVideo DivX web player or Flash versions using MegaVideo.

In order for the video player to work, you must click on the red link near the top of all their pages called the NinjaVideo Helper Beta which will open another small window and will display the word 'online' when java is properly working on your browser. You should click this link when you first arrive each time since it allows the Captcha boxes to work. This is safe and has been tested and used by millions of users every day. To play a video you must first enter a 'captcha' text (type the 4 characters you see and click enter) much like you do whenever you sign up for things online, this is newly implemented by them, its simple to do and prevents spammers, and ever since it began their download speeds have improved a lot. After entering the captcha text you must wait about 4 seconds before clicking play or you will get an error and you will have to reload the page and enter the captcha text again. Many people think the video isn't working and leave when the problem was just that they clicked play too quickly.

There's no signing up required, just click on the 'helper' red link at the top when you first arrive, click on any banner (banners are used to display all shows and movies), enter the captcha text, wait 4 seconds and click play.

Most shows and movies will have the link that says 'Click here for alternate link' which is normally the MegaVideo (Flash) version which is much faster loading but lower video quality. The NinjaVideo 'helper' isn't required to run to use these links. You can also download most of the movies directly and watch them offline by clicking on the 'DivX Mirror' link for a movie and then click the download link.

Movie Quality Info: All of the really new and unreleased movies online were made available by a leaked screener copy 'DVDScr' or a 'DVDRip' copied from the official DVD, or most likely they were made from someone who brought a hidden camera to the movie theater 'CAM'. The screeners and DVDrips are much better quality although like the leaked Wolverine screener some may be unfinished in effects and editing. Many CAM releases are unwatchable due to poor pirate filming though NinjaVideo only chooses the best currently available.

The great thing about this site is not just it's collection of nearly every movie imaginable, but the huge choices of links for viewing each movie which guarantees a copy that will work for you and your computer. You can find movies in all qualities and speeds for streaming or download.
No sign-up required, no verification boxes, nothing but click and watch! If you want to comment on the movies you have to register.

The new shows aren't posted as quickly here as they are on NinjaVideo.net, new episodes of shows like the Daily Show and the Colbert Report become available on here one to two days after broadcast on tv, as apposed to immediately on NinjaVideo.

This site has a great collection of full episodes of very popular tv shows from Heroes to Survivor all for free and in fullscreen.

The GlobalTV.com video player has improved alot recently, only a few months ago it had only a couple shows available and a non fullscreen player. Due to its recent popularity and Canadian's discovery of the regional limits of Hulu and other US sites, GlobalTV.com has been able to improve dramatically over a short period of time and will continue to if we keep visiting them.

This is one of my new favorites. Huge selection of TV links and sources for episodes mostly linking to MegaVideo videos which as most of you know limits you to only about 72min of video unless you wait another 52min or pay to become member. Since most TV episodes are an hour or less this isn't much of a problem. This site has a very poor movie selection though, only three movies I think but the TV episode list is enormous. I stumbled across this site recently, they have a huge selection of brand new TV and Movie links and the working status of the links are constantly being checked and updated by the site and users.

This site has links to all the top online video sites and a powerful search bar with lots of results, unfortunately many of the sites that are linked here like Hulu.com won't work for viewers outside the USA, (which is why I created this page of links)

Amazing interface with over 3315 channels. Although many popular channels it links to like HBO.com cannot be viewed by people outside the USA.

Site has many channels that work for viewers worldwide. Use the left-side menu to choose stations and channels.

Unlike most video sites, this site doesn't just list the links where to watch stuff online, it actually has the videos and uses its own video player to watch them. Great selection of shows but not as updated or enough new episodes like NinjaVideo.net still worth checking out though.
