In 1923, J.C. Henneberger began Weird Tales--The Unique Magazine. Throughout its 30-year history, the obscure pulp published some of the most outré fiction ever issued. The stories were odd, macabre, and completely unique. Weird Tales existed in a void, and the stories published therein reached pinnacles of strangeness never equalled.
Anita Marie Moscoso, who presides over the Twilight Zone in Lemuria and at the Soul Food Cafe writes about the odd and the macabre. Her weird tales are a delight and, not surprisingly, Anita Marie has a growing fan club at the site and beyond. Her stories have been translated in to Japanese and Chinese and bring delight to those with wicked imaginations all over the world.

She Was Right There
A Weird Tale
Last night Kamcela Turnsole got a phone call from her neighbor whose name was Romey Setwall. " Come over right away" her neighbor says." My family is gone."Kamcela was glad Romey couldn't see her; because it was obvious what was on Kamcela's face wasn't confusion or shock.
She closed her eyes and for the fist time in days Kamcela could take a deep breath and relax. " I'm sorry to hear that Romey, do you know where they went?"
" They're in the living room. "
Kamcela heard a click and then the line went dead and then she dialed a single number and without being asked by the operator at the other end she said, " My friend just hurt her family, please come."
The phone fell from her hand and Kamcela left it on the floor where she dropped it and then she stepped over it and went out into the darkness to the house next door and it took a million hours to reach it.

- Little Girl's Gone Rocking
- Here I am, getting ready to start another writing project and getting ready to once again pray that the target I'm trying to hit is as big as the side of an Ocean Liner because I can promise you that no matter how clear and concise the instructions are for this " Writing Journey" I'll botch it up.
- Dialogue With An Imaginary Friend
- " Here " Kincross says from behind my right shoulder, " let me take a look at what you're writing. Is it about me? "
Kincross is quiet for a second, which surprises me because my Werewolf has never been the quiet type. This can't be a good sign, especially when the second turns into a minute and I hear her growl " an imaginary friend? Write a dialog with an imaginary friend? "
" That's what it says Kincross " I tell her.
" I'm not imaginary and I'm not part of your subconscious either " she says quickly.

Nothing on the poll is as scary as

'The Ring' scared me--til my sister made me read all books. Then it wasn't as scary anymore.
And as cliche as it sounds, 'The Blair Witch Project', the original one, scared me so much, not because of the Witch but because I've been in those woods and the ending was so open my mind ran off with it.
Most horror movies with monsters or aliens usually make me feel bad for the monsters and aliens.
'Maximum Overdrive' is a nightmare of mine, along the lines of the 'Terminator' movies--where the machines take over. 'The MIst' scares me too, even though I haven't seen the movie version yet.
But the one thing that has absolutely terrified me since i was a young child ever since I saw it was an episode of the Twilight Zone -- where the world ends and the only person left is the guy who loves to read--and now he has all the time in the world to read all those books he has always wanted to--and his glasses break....

I've seen so many scary movies that I'm almost immune to them. "The Grudge" had some scenes that bugged me. There's also a movie--I want to say it's "The Changeling" but I'm not sure. I do think George C. Scott was in it, but it seemed to involve a ghost that was killing people who had the same initials or birthday or something like that. There was one scene that really freaked me out from it: a guy is going up a set of wooden stairs from a cellar to the first floor of a house, and this hooded ghost comes from behind him and grabs him. It definitely makes me zip up the stairs whenever I think of it!
There was also a movie called "The House that Screamed" that I haven't seen in ages: I saw it as a kid on a Saturday afternoon creature feature TV show (could be hosted by Zacherley.) It's about a girls' school where the headmistress's son is hiding out and murdering girls. He uses parts of them to make a "perfect" girl his mom will approve of. Creepy Ed Gein tones!

Bubba Ho-Tep looks like a high end " B " film, but it also deals with loss, regret and mortality...and a Killer Mummy.
Because it's such a well told story, it will hit the fear nerve.
Great Horror Film...a MUST see at H'ween!

Not too long ago, Mum bought a DVD of the film, "Silent Hill", I'm in my 40's and pretty fearless, but this film had me screeching and putting my feet on the chair... before I crawled into Mum's bed with her.

My personal favourite scary movie is Stir of Echoes - actually its mix of horror and humour reminds me of Anita Marie's stories!
