A Tiny Vampire With a Wicked Gift

Summit Entertainment has officially confirmed to People Magazine that Dakota Fanning is confirmed to play Jane in New Moon! Jane is a small, but mighty member of the Volturi Guard in the Twilight vampire book series by Stephenie Meyer. She will be introduced on the big screen in 2009 with the movie sequel to Twilight, New Moon. Although Jane may look childlike, her powers should not be underestimated. Twilight fans have petitioned for actress, Dakota Fanning to portray Jane in Twilight 2. Filming for "New Moon" begins in Vancouver late March and will be released in theaters in November 2009!

Who is Jane?

Jane is a fictional character that is introduced in New Moon, the second book in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer.

Species: Vampire
Age at Human Death: Approximately 13 years old.
Jane is very petite and could be mistaken for a child because of her size. According to the books, she has pale brown hair that is trimmed short and crimson red irises. She wears a long dark, almost black, cloak. Jane speaks in a childish, monotone voice. Jane's character in the upcoming movie, New Moon is described as a petite blonde with a "Botticelli angel-like face.
Jane is a member the Volturi, a powerful vampire coven that is regarded as royalty. The Volturi reside in Volterra, Italy and have existed for over 3,000 years. The Volturi consists of 32 members, some of which posses unusual talents and gifts. They enforce the strict policy of keeping their existence a secret from humans and police their species when this rule is broken. They will travel the world to find and punish a vampire who has exposed himself to a human. Unlike some vampires in the Twilight series, the Volturi do drink human blood. They do not hunt, but lure their meals into their carefully guarded castle for great feasts.
Like other members of the Volturi Guard, Jane was sought out by the Volturi because she possessed a rare and powerful gift. She has the ability to create the illusion of inflicting excruciating pain that will bring even the strongest vampires to their knees, reeling in agonizing pain.

Dakota Fanning is perfect for Jane because in the book,
Jane is described to look a great deal younger than she realy is. Dakota Fanning is very young looking for her age. Look it up on youtube they show Jane and she looks sort of scary in a way.
