Twilight is a series of four vampire-based fantasy/romance novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. The series is told primarily from Bella's point of view, with the epilogue of Eclipse and Part II of Breaking Dawn being told from the viewpoint of character Jacob Black, a werewolf. Ever since the release of the first novel, Twilight, in 2005, the books have gained immense popularity and commercial success around the world. The series is most popular among young adults; the four books have won multiple awards, most notably the 2008 British Book Award for "Children's Book of the Year" for Breaking Dawn, while the series as a whole won the 2009 Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Book.

As of November 2009, the series has sold over 85 million copies worldwide with translations into at least 38 different languages around the globe. The four Twilight books have consecutively set records as the biggest selling novels of 2008 on the USA Today Best-Selling Books list and have spent over 235 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list for Children's Series Books.

Thus far, the first three books are being made into a series of motion pictures by Summit Entertainment; the film adaptation of Twilight was released in 2008 and the second, New Moon, is set to be released on November 20, 2009.

Red Velvet Chocolate Cake: If you want your cake to be even redder, increase the food coloring by one to three tablespoons.
The Original Red Velvet Cake: There are a lot of different recipes for Red Velvet Cake. Here is the one that I grew up with and still use. I have to say, it's worth buying a couple of heart-shaped cake pans just for this cake. It's a perfect Valentine's Day dessert.
Red Velvet Cake Balls: It's based on a mix, but I imagine you can follow the same directions substituting from scratch cake and frosting (I'll try that one day). You can also try it with other cake combinations.

Red Velvet Vampire Cookies: This is a cake mix recipe, so it's extremely easy to make and never fails to turn out perfectly. I should warn you that the cookie dough resembles scenes from a bloody horror movie. It looks disgusting and keeps it bright red color even after it's baked, so it makes a sweet treat for wanna-be vampires.
Vampire Sugar Cookies: I made the bite marks by poking two holes in the dough with a toothpick before baking. Even though the cookies spread slightly in the oven, the holes stay in place. I used a toothpick dipped in jam to draw the blood trickle from one of the holes after the cookies cooled. Any red jam or preserves will work for these.
Vampire Cupcakes: I made the marks using a skewer dipped in leftover cherry filling, making sure to leave a clear impression of a fang bite, rather than just a red streak on top of the cake.

2 (3 oz) packages red Jello
2 cups boiling water
½ cup cold water
2 cups Cinnamon Schnapps

Bring water to a boil and remove from heat. Dissolve the Jello in boiling water, stirring at least 2 minutes until gelatin is dissolved. Add cold water and Cinnamon Schnapps. Add a drop of red food coloring, if you like. Pour the mixture into shot glasses or paper cups. Let sit in refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Alcohol Optional

1 (46-ounce) can red punch (recommended: Hawaiian Punch)
1 (46-ounce) can apple juice
1 (48-ounce) bottle cranberry juice
1 (2-liter) bottle ginger ale
Ice cubes

Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl. Add ice and stir.

Berry vodka, optional
Orange liqueur, optional

For grown up version, add 4 cups berry vodka and 1/2 cup orange liqueur.

1 box red Jello
2 liters red soda

Prepare Jello according to directions on package and refrigerate overnight. Just before the party, pour the cold soda into a punch bowl. Cut or break the Jello into small chunks and add it to the punch bowl so it looks like clumps of blood. Serve immediately.

1 gallon cranberry juice
1 gallon orange juice
1 cup raspberry sorbet
1 quart seltzer

Mix the juices together. Add the sorbet, softened, and stir until it disappears. Add the seltzer.

Twilight Inspired Dinner Recipes

Impress your guests by printing a copy of Bella's menu from Bella Italia on elegant scrapbook paper and placing it on the dinner table.

Portobella Mushroom Fresh Ravioli 24 ct 2/14ozpk

Mushroom Ravioli Recipe

8 oz button mushrooms
1 tbsp butter
1 medium-sized shallot
1 small bunch of chives
1 ½ tbsp salt
4-6 oz skim ricotta cheese
48 wonton wrappers
Water
Canola oil for pan frying

In a food processor, add button mushrooms (cut in quarters), shallot, and chives and pulse until finely chopped.
Heat butter in a small saucepan.
Add mushroom mixture and salt, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms turn a light shade of brown and the shallot is translucent. Make sure it's kind of salty - you'll be adding ricotta to the ravioli, and if the mushroom mixture isn't salty, your ravioli will be bland.
Spoon 1 tsp of the mushroom mix on the middle of a wonton, then top with 1 tsp ricotta cheese.
Moisten the edge of the wrapper with water, bring two opposite corners together and form a triangle. It's better if you work from the middle of the wonton and push out - this will push out air pockets.
Repeat until all wontons are used.
Heat canola oil in a large pan (over med-high heat).
Add ravioli.
Flip the ravioli after about 90 seconds.
Cook for another 30 seconds and add about 2 tbsp of water to the pan. Turn heat down to medium.
Cover and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Serve with marinara for dipping or with your favorite tomato or white sauce as you would boiled ravioli.
