Kitsch, Funky Jewellery

I started making jewellery when I was about nine. I bought up the haberdashery stock at John Lewis and made beaded wire bracelets for everyone I knew. Unfortuntely, I never worked out how to stop the ends of the wire from stabbing me in the wrist all day, so I pretty much gave up for a few years, with a very scratched wrist and a feeling that I could always return to it should I want to!

Then when I fell pregnant I spent a lot of time at home, making cards and scrapbooking, and as I looked at my stash I realised I had some great stuff to make a bracelet with!

I didn't think about doing it seriously until I came across www.etsy.com, a community and sales portal for hundreds of handcrafters all over the world. It's where I currently sell most of my jewellery.

Now, I am in the process of setting up my own website (with my Dad, who knows more about computers and programming than anyone I have ever met) and really want to get my name out there, and get people wearing my jewellery. I always make sure to wear at least one piece I have created, and often people ask me where I got it from, I feel so proud to be able to say that I designed it myself!

I make everything from home, on my dining table, although I will shortly be moving to my new studio in a tiny corner of our flat.
