If you have been around the internet marketing industry for even a short length of time then you will have undoubtedly heard of Twitter and the many, many ways that people believe you can use it for profits.. to make yourself extra income.

And whilst this shouldn't really be your primary goal for participating in a micro blogging platform in the social type setting that Twitter is, if you work smart and play by the rules, you will soon find that your Twitter participation can be a profitable action and can be VERY lucrative.

One of the real beauty elements of Twitter for it's users, is the "instant gratification" factor and speedy networking with your peers. If you don't really know Twitter, I will explain a little here:

So how can we use Twitter for major profits?

First things first with Twitter. When you first get started, your tweets will ONLY be read by random people who choose to see everything that is published by users, but as you continue to use it you will gather "followers" who will then be tuned in to your tweets each and every time you publish one, if any of your followers happen to be on Twitter then you will be sharing with them instantly what you have to say.

Of course not every one of your followers will be online at all times, but that doesn't matter because they will either see your tweets when they login, or.. as your personal twitter commuity grows, you will find that logging into Twitter is like one big conversation and you can just join in with your followers and those that you are following.

1) Be targeted in your approach

I know twitter can be a fun social networking tool, but if you are to profit from your activity then you should still keep the marketer in your head when using it. Focus on associating with people in your niche.

This is NOT so you can promote to them endlessly, but you can learn and share with like minded people, which in turn will expand your knowledge and therefore your business.

2) Pay Attention To Your Community

You can easily see by the discussions that occur in your twitter community, what is accepted, liked and what is not. So, occasionally it pays to just read for a short while to get a feel for the people around you. You will learn plenty and can grow and move in the right direction to feel the full benefit of the platform.
