HERE'S WHAT I THINK
Twitter is Brilliant
There have been many social networking sites launched in recent years but non as successful as Twitter.
Participating in Twitter is easy. No need to build a farm or respond to pokes or wonder what people are posting on your wall.
No gazillions of spam messages - you choose who you follow - and unfollow.
Twitter is elegant, educational and efficacious.
Stuck with a problem? Need a resource? Need an idea? Turn to Twitter for a deluge of helpful responses.
For solo entrepreneurs working from their home office or studio Twitter is the water cooler or coffee machine. Drop by and chill for 10 minutes. Be in community.
Twitter is quite brilliant and it is here to stay!

I am very new to twitter, but the editor in me loves the tight limit on post length. Seems like if you choose carefully who to follow, you'll get a nice mix of news, humor, recommendations & personal connection.

I love Twitter! And for the people who are saying "No way, Monkeybrain," because of organization, they should try tools like Tweetdeck or Hootsuite. Twitter is the fastest way to get information out to a bunch of people, and many of them have the same interests as you because you are following each other. I have new followers to my blog, and I have found information I never would have known about if not for Twitter. I am a fan!

Twitter is a low-commitment platform with the high value of staying in the know.

I'm still learning Twitter, but I think it will be a very good promo tool, as well as getting acquainted with other authors.

Agree! It's definitely a place to find quick info and publicize what you want to talk about. Definitely being used more for businesses than twenty somethings going to parties. A great marketing tool.

I still don't get it 100%, of twitter..
It feels like shouting to a crowd, and you never know who will listen..
But at least it's not intrusive as email, and you can walk away from it

I agree Tricia at first I didn't get into it much but now when I want to know what other folks are talking about Twitter provides a quick glance into the outside world. I usually find things out on Twitter before it hits the nightly news.

It's the water cooler gossip for me - working on your own can be isolating. It keeps me up to date with what is going on in my world (professional and personal). I know more about what my nieces and nephews are up to than I ever did before, catch up with friends, share work info and roar with laughter when reading @MrsStephenFry

No way, Monkeybrain!
Cath says:
Twitter has it fun moments, but I don't spend a lot of time there. There's something disjointed about the conversations that make it hard for me to figure out what's going on. If I want that, I can open my office door and let my family in.

Beth says:
Twitter has merits, but the lack of organization turns me off. I read posts there every few weeks, but I have no interest in signing on to the site. If they restructure someday I may get an account; as things are now, I don't want to delve for useful droplets out of a flood.

Twitter does my head in! You would have thought there was enough noise in the world without creating another platform whose sole function is to generate more!
