What Is Twitter? 

My Members' Page In TwitterTwitter is one of the newest social networking sites that allow you to connect with new people around the world with similar interests - just like other social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, etc.

Similar to other social networking sites, you can sign up as a member of Twitter for free (and you can do so in less than 30 seconds as there are only 3 fields you need to enter in the sign-up page - your username, password and email address) and you can start using Twitter instantly.

On the right-hand side, you see a screenshot of the members' page of Twitter - which you can see once you've signed up as a member of Twitter (by the way, that's a screenshot of my member's page - if you like to follow me on Twitter and stay in touch with the latest Internet Marketing tips, tricks and updates, all you need to do is to click here)

You can use Twitter to not only connect with people with similar interests as you, but you can also use it to effectively drive targeted traffic to your websites (the reason why I so is because only people who are connected with you can see your messages - and if these people have similar interests as you, they would definitely be interested to check out any websites you have, which makes these website traffic targeted).

On top of that, you can also recommend products and services (either those you own or selling as an affiliate) that you think will benefit them... And when they buy, you'll get paid - it's that simple! :)

Tool #01 - Tweet Later 

Tweet LaterTweet Later is one Twitter tool you must use to compliment with your Twitter account.

With Tweet Later, you can:

1. Schedule Tweets

With Tweet Later, you can schedule line up your tweets to be published on a certain date and time.

This is just like setting up autoresponder messages to be sent to your list subscribers and you can use this feature just like how you use a "Message Scheduler" to broadcast messages in your autoresponder.

2. Auto-Follow

When you check this particular option, Twitter will automatically follow people who follows you.

I would leave this option checked because I would like also like to know what my followers are doing (you never know what you will be able to learn from your followers - I have, in fact, learned some things through my followers that helped boost my affiliate marketing income).

3. Auto-Welcome

This option, when checked (feature can be found in the above screenshot highlighted in a red rectangular box), will automatically send a personal message whenever someone decides to follow you on Twitter.

You can write a message to thank them for following you and ask them to check out your website (or somewhere along that line)...

By doing so, it will definitely help boost your website's traffic (and sales) so I highly recommend you to check this option.

Tool #02 - Twit Wall 

Twit WallI totally understand your frustrations - You want to share more information with your followers in Twitter but you are limited to 140 characters in 1 single Tweet... Which is why you have Twit Wall!

You need not register for an account with Twit Wall - All you need is to login with your existing Twitter account username and password and off you go!

With Twit Wall, you can now write Tweets that are over 140 characters... The following is a screenshot of my Twit Wall:

As you can see from the screenshot above, there is a WYSIWYG ("What You See Is What You Get") text area where you can enter your Twit Wall entry... You may also choose to enter your Twit Wall entry in HTML format if you wish to...

Also, in a Twit Wall entry, you are allowed to embed videos, podcasts or even images into it!

You can make full use of a Twit Wall to give your followers a preview of a product you're reviewing, or some videos about the product - either a preview of the product, or a in-depth review of it, etc.

Once you're done, Twit Wall will automatically publish it in your Twitter account - with the text you've entered in "What are you thinking?" being the Twitter tweet and following it is a link for people to click to read your Twit Wall...

Tool #03 - Twhirl 

TwhirlInstead of logging in to Twitter to post a new Tweet, you can download a messenger-like software called Twhirl to do the updating for you.

Twhirl is free to download and install. And once you're done, you will be able to post Tweets just like how you are writing and sending messages using a instant messenger software such as MSN Messenger.

Apart from that, you can also see Tweets from those whom you're following on Twitter.

Apart from Twhirl, here are some of the other softwares you may want to try out (they are all free to download and install):

TweetDeck
This software is currently in public beta and is similar to Twhirl in terms of functionality.

Tweetr
This is another software which you can use to read and update tweets on your computer.

TwitterFox
This is a Firefox add-on, where you'll see a tiny icon on the status bar of your Firefox browser. The features available are similar to Twhirl.

Tool #04 - Twit Refresh 

Twit Refresh is an application where, once you click on the link, it brings you to Twitter's page and auto refreshes every 60 seconds...

This application saves you the hassle from needing to manually refresh every now and then to check for new Tweets from people you're following (which can be a chore at times)...

In the following screenshot, you'll see Twit Refresh in action, where it lets you know when is Twit Refresh going to refresh your Twitter page (I've highlighted this section in a red rectangular box for easy identification):

You may click on the "Stop Refreshing" link to stop Twit Refresh from refreshing your page as well.

You may want to use this tool if you are following a someone and you want to be informed firsthand whenever he/she submits a tweet.

Tool #05 - Twitter Snooze 

Does it irritate you whenever you see someone you follow submit a tweet every few seconds or so, and his/her tweets are flooding your screen?

I certainly find that really irritating, but yet I do not want to unfollow him/her as he/she sometimes submit tweets with information I find useful.

So what should I do? All I need to do is to just snooze him/her using a free tool called Twitter Snooze:

All you need to do is to enter your Twitter login details, plus who would you like to snooze, as well as for how long you do not wish to receive his/her tweets - And you'll stop receiving any tweets from him/her for the period of time you've specified.

Unlike Twitter Buzz, which shows you only the links of sites fellow Twitter members are linking their tweets to, you can, in Tweet Scan, find out the exact tweets that are submitted by fellow members.

Twitter Vision is a really interesting application (and one that really fascinates me) that shows you, in real-time, all the activities that are going on in Twitter around the world, and from where they are tweeting from.

Tool #09 - Twubble 

TwubbleTwubble is a free Twitter tool that will help you expand your social networks by searching, based on the people you follow, a list of other fellow Twitter members whom you like to follow.

You need not signup to use this service - all you need is to log into your Twitter account, and then go to Twubble - and everything will be done for you.

You can make use of Twubble to build up your networks in Twitter - with a larger network, your tweets will be able to get through to more people (provided that they decide to follow your tweets in return).

Tool #10 - Group Tweet 

Group TweetGroup Tweet is a free Twitter tool that allows you to set up a Twitter group, get your friends, customers, etc. to join the group, and you can use broadcast tweets to your group (which you can choose whether you want your tweet to be visible to public or just to your group members only).

Tool #11 - Twit Beep 

Tweet BeepTweet Beep works similar with Google Alerts, in that it will notify you via email whenever a tweet that someone posts matches your search.

Examples can be that you want to keep track on any tweets that people submit that talks about a specific product or service, or about your company, or some subjects or topics you are interested in, etc.

Signing up for a free account in Tweet Beep takes no longer than 30 seconds, and you can use this service immediately after you've signed up.

Twitter FoneTwitter Fone is a free Twitter tool where you will be able to send tweets to Twitter via voice message from your phone!

With Twitter Fone, you can submit tweets even if you do not have Internet connection - all you need to do is to dial a number, record your tweet and your tweet will be updated in your Twitter account - Sweet! :)

However, Twitter Fone is currently still in its beta testing stage, and signups are based on invitations only.

Tool #13 - TweetBurner 

Tweet BurnerWith Tweetburner, you can accomplish the following things:

Shorten Your URL
You are only allowed a maximum of 140 characters in 1 single tweet. If you would like submit a link in your tweets, I would suggest you shorten it.

The reason is because with a shorter link on your tweet message, you will have more characters to describe what your link is about.

Track Your Links
You'll be able to track how many times your link is clicked on by fellow Twitter messages who follow your tweets.

This feature is especially useful if you want to track the efficiency of your messages - so that you can tweak them for maximum clicks and conversions (and more money into your bank account!)

Tool #14 - Twitter Timer 

Twitter TimerTwitter Timer is a very simple Twitter tool that does one thing - it will send you reminders (in a form of a direct message into your Twitter account) at the time you've specified.

However, before you can make use of this tool, you need to be following Twitter Timer.

All you need to do to get a reminder from Twitter Timer is to send a direct message to it in the following format:

d timer 45 please send out autoresponder email!!

The number 45 denotes that the reminder will be sent out in 45 minutes time.

You can place the reminder you want to be sent to you after the number 45.

Tool #15 - Twisky 

Twisky is a another Twitter tool where you can "pin" yourself up on Twisky's homepage (and your "pin" will stay up there for the next 36-hours.

The following is a screenshot of Twisky's homepage where, I've highlight using a yellow rectangular box on the left, where you can "pin" your Twitter profile up:

You'll be able to "pin" yourself up on Twisky as long as there are empty slots available.

You can make use of Twisky to get more people to visit your Twitter profile (and also visit the websites in the tweets that you submit - if your tweet description is interesting enough to want to read on for more information).

Tool #16 - Quotably 

QuotablyThere may be times where you may find a tweet that's submitted by someone you follow interesting, and you want to keep track on any tweets that are posted by others in reply to the original tweet posted.

You can do so by using a free tool called Quotably.

All you need to do is to enter the person's name and you'll see a list of Tweets he/she posted, along with the replies to his tweet (see screenshot below):

Tool #17 - Twitter Answers 

Twitter AnswersTwitter Answers is similar to Yahoo Answers in that, someone who have a question posts it there and fellow members who know the answer to the question posted will post the answer.

Signing up as a member to Twitter Answers is free - All you need is a Twitter account and a Mosio account - where you can sign up for one here.

However, at the time of writing, when I visited the sign up page, I realized that one of the fields they require is your mobile carrier - and they only accept members of some mobile carriers currently - the reason is because you can view questions and answers using your mobile phone and currently they do not support all mobile carriers (perhaps in the future).

After you've signed up, and you would like to ask a question - all you need to do is to first follow this user called QNA in Twitter, and then post your question by sending a direct message to QNA, and your question will be posted on Twitter Answers.

To answer a question, you need to log into Twitter Answers to do so.

You can use Twitter Answers the same way you use Yahoo Answers to drive traffic to your websites and sales - This is a very good site and I highly recommend you to check it out.

Tool #18 - Twitsig 

TwitsigTwitsig is a free tool where it allows you to convert your latest tweet update into an image - where you could use as part of your signature (either in emails or in forums).

There is no need for you to sign up to use Twitsig - All you need to do is to enter your Twitter name, and they will generate an image with your latest tweet update.

Tool #19 - Twitter Feed 

Twitter FeedTwitter Feed is a free tool that allows you to, if you have a blogger blog, link up your Blogger blog with Twitter.

How Twitter Feed works is that, whenever you have published a new post in a blogger blog, Twitter Feed will automatically post a new tweet in your Twitter with a link to your new post.

By doing so, you will automatically inform all your followers in Twitter whenever you publish a new post in your blog - And they will visit your blog, and generate traffic to your blog for you.

iTwtrIf you have an Apple iPhone and a Twitter account, you can access your Twitter account with your Apple iPhone through a website called iTwtr.

TwittermentTwitterment is a free tool where you can search anything you want within Twitter.

All you need to do is to enter your search term and this tool will scan through Twitter and return relevant results related to the search term you've entered.

Tool #22 - Twitter Search 

Twitter SearchTwitter Search is a similar tool to Twitterment, where you can search Twitter for tweets on particular keywords.

As you can see in the screenshot of Twitter Search on the right, the interface looks pretty much similar to Google's search page.

All you need to start searching is to enter a keyword, and Twitter Search will return a list of results with tweets containing the keyword you are searching for.

The following is a screenshot that contains a list of results based on the keyword "affiliate marketing":

Tool #23 - Twitscoop 

TwitscoopTwitscoop is another free Twitter tool that is similar to Tweet Scan, where you can find out the hottest topics that people are tweeting about right now.

Twitscoop also allow you to either enter a keyword or a person's Twitter name to track a conversation, topic or conference.

I've captured a screenshot below where I searched for conversations, topics or conferences related with the keyword "marketing" and I've highlighted it using a red rectangular box:

What's good about this search tool is that the result refreshes every 20 seconds.

I often like to use this tool as well to look for niches where I can go into and I highly recommend you to check this tool out.

Tool #24 - Tweet Ahead 

Tweet AheadTweet Ahead is another free Twitter tool that allows you to schedule tweets to be sent at a certain time, and it works similarly to Tweet Later.

To start scheduling tweets, all you need to do is to log in using your existing Twitter login details, and once you've logged in, you should see the following screenshot:

However, the only shortcoming with Tweet Ahead is that you can only schedule tweets to be sent out within the next 24 hours.

Tool #25 - Twiddeo 

TwiddeoFor those who would prefer to update their Twitter via videos instead of words, you can do so using a free tool called Twiddeo.

You need not sign up for an account in Twiddeo - Rather, you can log in using your Twitter login.

Once you've logged in, you'll see the following page, where you will be able to upload your video (which you can record using either a video camera, a web cam, a camera with video recording function or a camera phone with video recording function), and also a short description of what you video is about:

Tool #26 - Twitalot 

Are there occasions where you want to submit a tweet but can't do so because Twitter is down?

You can now do continue to tweet using a free tool called Twitabit.

All you need to do is to enter your Twitter username and password, as well as the tweet you want to submit (see screenshot below), and your tweet will be submitted once Twitter comes back up:

Tool #27 - Twitsay 

There may be times where you want to submit a tweet to inform your followers about a new product launch, or a limited time offer/promotion but you do not have access to the Internet.

You can still do so using Twitsay, where you submit your tweet by submitting a voice message (by dialing a regional Twitsay number).

Your voice message will then be submitted as a tweet in your Twitter account - so your followers can listen to it:

Answer Me is similar to Twitter Answers - where you can submit questions (if you have one), and post answers to questions (if you know them)...
