Making a great Twitter Page

Making a great Twitter page doesn't require a lot of time and effort. In fact, you can signup and create your great twitter page within 1 hour. I will outline the steps to making a Twitter page that everyone enjoys and can share.

Step 1: Find something that you are interested in.

In my case I really enjoyed playing video games so I developed my Twitter page to exclusively deal with video game consoles. This way when I find others who are interested in video games, I can add them and feel assured that they will add me as well. By targeting a specific niche you will be able to post messages specifically targeted for your audience.

Step 2: Create your account

Create your account and make a username that reflects what you are interested in. So if you are interested in sports, make a username like sportsmaniac or sportsfanatic. This will help others immediately identify with your content on your page.

While creating account be sure to develop your profile to reflect your niche as well. Include links to your related blogs or articles. Write a bio that intrigues people to read more about your tweets and makes them want to become one of your twitter followers. Your bio is very important when it comes to attracting other twitter members.

Upload a photo that reflects your niche tweeting. If you enjoy basketball then upload a picture of you playing basketball or of a basketball. This will also help twitter followers identify quickly with the content on your page.

Step 3: Use Twitter applications

There are many Twitter applications that will help you develop your page. Some sites are Twollo, Tweetlater, Twellow, Search.Twitter, Dossy.org, Bit.ly, Google alerts, and Twitterfeed. Now I will explain the functionality of each of these sites on how they can help you develop a killer twitter page.

- Twollo - this site helps you find people who have the same interests as you and follow their pages. By following others with similar interests they will be inclined to follow you because the information on your page is what interests them most.

- Tweetlater - this site will allow you to send an automated message to everyone who follows you. I have put something similar to: "Thanks for following me on Twitter. I'm glad that there are other video gamers like me."

- Twellow - this site is referred to as the yellow pages of Twitter. You can find other people with similar interests as you by looking through their profiles. These people will be more likely to follow you because their profiles express interest in your page.

- Search.Twitter - this does extactly what it says. You can search Twitter for people like you with similar interests. Use the Advanced search and find people near you or ones with an interest in your niche market.

- Dossy.org - this site will unscribe people that aren't following you back. This becomes important when you begin to amass a larger following because of the restrictions that Twitter puts on your account. Usually when you reach around 1800 people you are following without have 1800 people follow you.

- Bit.ly - this site allows you to shorten your urls. This is useful because twitter only allows 140 characters for each tweet. So when you need more space...this neat website will give you those extra characters to tweet away.

- Google Alerts - google alerts can allow you to find information on your niche market that spans all of the webpages out there. This way you can provide great information to your followers in real time. Google alerts allows you to create a feed that can then be inserted into your Twitter account and automatically update your tweets with meaningful information that targets your group.

- Twitterfeed - this is the website that you use your google feeds on to automatically post those feeds to your twitter account.

There is a program that walks you through this whole process and explains these sites in great detail. It's called the twitter traffic machine.

Step 4: Start following

As I mentioned before, you will need to follow others in order for them to start following you. It's not too often that someone finds my twitter page by accident, so you will have to do some self promotion.

Use the websites I mentioned above and add followers in your niche market. This will typically take about 20 minutes of your time everyday but it can pay off greatly.

Step 5: Make money

Twitter is a great resource for making money off the internet. Once you have a great following people will click on your articles and links in the masses. Post affiliate links or information to your blogs or websites that contain material that allows you to get paid. A great site for this is RevTwt
