What can I say about Tyler Perry? He's the best! I've only been able to see his plays on DVD, but if I EVER get the chance, I'm going to see him LIVE! Tyler Perry is the best playwright, actor, singer I know. He's hilarious as "Madea" and he really gets to the soul. He's not afraid to tackle subjects most people feel uncomfortable dealing with. Tyler Perry at a Glance
Tyler Perry (born September 14, 1969) is an American actor, director, screenwriter, producer, and author. , Tyler Perry's films have grossed over $400 million worldwide, not including his plays. He also raked in $125 million between June 1, 2007 and June 1, 2008, and made history last year as the first black film producer to own a major television and film studio. To date, he's sold more than 25 million DVDs. He also has two hit TBS comedies, a best-selling book and several successful stage plays.
Who is Madea?
Mabel Simmons, commonly known as "Madea" is a fictional character created and portrayed by Tyler Perry. Based on Perry's mother and aunt, Madea is an aggressive, grey-haired, bespectacled black matriarch. She will argue with anyone, frequently threatens people by pulling a gun out of her purse, and is known for her unique pronunciation and enunciation of words as reflected in her tag lines, "I oughta punch chur in da face!" and "Get that man a hat!" She is part of a large family, with many children and grandchildren. Her name is spelled variously as "Mabel" and "Mable". "Madea" or "Madear" is a typical Southern name for a grandmother; the term is a shortened form of "Mother Dear".
Although Madea is featured heavily in most of Perry's plays and films, including Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madeas Family Reunion, Meet the Browns, Madea Goes to Jail, and most recently, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, the argument can be made that she is not the protagonist of them, but more so the comic relief to the plays and films dramatics settings.

With the cost of living going up you would think Tyler Perry would have the price of tickets where people making minimum wage or just want to take grandma out for an evening could afford your tickets.
