Paintball is a sport that has been gaining popularity in the USA and around the world in the past 10 years. It is estimated that over 10 million people play paintball in the USA alone. The overall concept is simple...try to shoot your enemy while avoiding your enemy's fire. The "fire" consists of paint and gelatin filled capsules. Although paintball is a hunt and shoot game, there are very few injuries and considered safe. This can be contributed to the quality of the safety equipment worn. If you're looking to get into paintball, here are some of the variety of games which you can take part in.
This is the original type of paintball. Woodsball started with scenario games like elimination, king of the hill and capture the flag, and still goes strong today. Incorporated in the genre of woodsball is the "scenario games" group. There are many creative game types beyond the 2 originals. Woodsball can be played anywhere from national forests to the woods by your house. The excitement and large fields of people draw players to woodsball.
-Speedball
This is the kind of paintball that you see on television. The terrain is the exact opposite of woodsball: flat, treeless, mostly unobstructed. The only shield a player has are man made obstacles, which are now inflatable. Speedball, as its name indicates, is a faster game of paintball. It is played on a smaller field and consists of smaller teams. Speedball is often used for tournament play.
-Reusable ball games
Paintball without the paint. These games use balls that do not break on contact that don't involve paint whatsoever. Some variations of balls are lighter rubber balls, Velcro balls and Reballs. Reusable balls have many benefits: they're cheaper, easier to clean for indoor parks and more consistent.
