She first became famous as a model in Paris, Milan, London, Tokyo and New York, but television appearances were her commercial breakthrough. Banks is the creator and host of the UPN/The CW reality television show Americas Next Top Model, co-creator of True Beauty, and host of her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show.''
In 2009 she was honored by Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) with the Excellence in Media Award.

- The government worries about everything but do they really worry about what is happening to children across america?
Monday in Clay county a little girl going home from school got kidnapped and was found dead on Wednesday(Somer Thompson). We are living in a country that we have to arm our children to maybe keep them safe? Four years ago I was a single mom and the school told me my children would have to walk to school we lived a little less then a mile from the school. But between my home and the school lived almost 20 convicted child molesters with only 1 crossing guard. So I had to change my hours so I could drive them but what about the parents out there who can't change their work schedules or can not afford morning daycare. If the country can afford sending troops overseas then why can't they afford to protect our children at home. I truly understand that we need to assist overseas but for God's Sake can't they try to keep our children safe. lilmary12052@yahoo.com
