U Care Rescue

Expo was a shelter dog. He lived in a cage with his litter mates from his earliest memories. The shelter folks recognized his potential and did everything possible to find him a good home. They had him neutered, gave him his puppy shots, even had the microchipping done, so he'd be ready for adoption. Sadly, there was too much competition, so Expo stayed on at the shelter.

Not giving up, they put Expo on TV and took him to a local pet event, trying to find him a home. Expo didn't get it. He whined, cried, jumped, pulled, and was everything but a good puppy, so he went back to his cage again.

Time was running out. The shelter had already kept him way longer than required. He wasn't small and cuddly anymore, and he certainly wasn't well-behaved. More puppies were coming in every day. They had to make room. This was not a no-kill shelter. Things looked pretty bleak for Expo.

We would like to extend an invitation to what, we hope, will grow to be something very beneficial for all of us involved in rescue. We call it Ucare..the united Coalition for Animal Rescue and Education. The idea is, that if we can all join together, putting personalities aside in order to make big things happen. Our mission statement can be seen here http://www.ucarerescue.net/viewtopic.php?t=953 . We are still very new but have high hopes of much growth and active participation.

We are in the process of applying for a 501c3 as well as advertisers willing to back us. With these two things..we would be able to obtain financial assistance for responsible rescues who are in need. This is not, however, to be an exclusive club..we would like to be able to lend a hand to ANY responsible rescue in need..not just those who are members. But we cannot do ANY of these things without our fellow rescue folks joining in. People just like you. We need your support and participation. We are NOT asking for your money. We do not want to ever take any rescue person/persons money. We are well aware that the biggest difficulty for a majority of rescues is funding.Which is one of the reasons for Ucare. To HELP you. To help find funding when needed. To assist in finding help and homes and information for your critters in need.

So..there we are. We need you. And we hope that by coming and supporting our venture we can not only make a few new friends..we can accomplish something amazing. Come and help us so that we can grow and help you. Feel free to browse, take a look..see where we are..and visualize where we are going.

Remember the local event where the shelter tried to find him a home? That event was Love Your Pet Expo 2007. The organizer's mother (me) fell in love with that poor, miserable puppy, and adopted him as our show's new mascot. His name was Screamer, then.
