What is Udo's Oil?

Udo's Oil is a healthy fat. It fits into the category of "fats that heal" instead of fats that kill. For me, daily use of Udo's oil and it's companion recipe book was the bridge to eating satisfaction and physical change.

He wasn't just speaking. He was preparing healthy, omega 3 rich gourmet sauces and entrees. I was both shocked and pleased to discover every recipe was created around Udo's Oil. Finally, a way to add this really healthy fat to my diet, while hiding the taste.

Fortunately, this wasn't a seminar where you had to take notes, and hoped you remembered everything. Alan put all his gourmet concoctions into a simple recipe book "Omega 3 Cuisine," Alan takes basic foods and turns them into gourmet delights by combining flavors and lot's of spices, while totally disguising the oil's original flavor. It's also healthy gourmet recipes on a frugal budget. So. finally, a way to get all the benefits from this healthy fat without a hint of the original flavor, and without breaking the bank in the process!

I left Vitamin Cottage armed with a copy of Omega 3 Cuisine and a great new way to enjoy the health benefits from Udo's Oil. I was also inspired by Alan's recipe philosophy. "Recipes are take and give. You take a recipe and give it your own twist." Using that principle I have changed some ingredients in his recipes, and Omega 3 Cuisine has inspired me to become my own gourmet chef, turning the healthy foods I normally eat into my own gourmet delights, while I hide the health benefits of Udo' s oil in everything I eat.

But that is not the end of the story. Little did I know that attending a seminar on Omega 3 benefits would be the start of an Incredible journey to better overall health, vitality, weight loss, and younger looking skin. It has also opened the door to a new world of foods and spices that specifically feed and nourish the brain. And our brains have a larger influence on our appetite, body, and health than we would ever think possible.

Recipes based on healthy oil inspired me. First thing I made was the Olive Paste. Not having kalamata olives on hand, I remembered Alan's motto, and substituted plain old black olives. It was delicious. I spent a whole week eating nothing but recipes from "Omega 3 Cuisine." I loved Alan's recipes, and was delighted to find a way to hide Udo's oil in everything I ate. I was consuming about 3 Tablespoons of Udo's Oil daily, in accordance with the suggested body weight ratio.

What I wasn't expecting from these flavorful recipes - physical results. I lost 3 pounds in the first week, without doing anything other than enjoying really tasty food. (Weight loss has been a challenge for me for at least 5 years) Another really noticeable result, my hair loss stopped. And a new sheen to skin and hair was an added bonus.

Feeling Betrayed

Feeling BetrayedI must confess - after about a week on Udo's oil, seeing almost instant changes in my physical appearance - I felt both betrayed and angry that the basic health information we are still getting touts a "lowfat" diet for health.

Why is a "low-fat diet" still being promoted for health and weight loss? I am tired of being deceived by false advertising. I am tired of having to read the fine print on labels. I am tired of having to double-check information. But feeling angry can be a good thing. It has inspired a new, deeper journey into health.

If only I had known about Omega 3 Cuisine recipes 3 years ago, when I simply could not stomach Udo's Oil by itself. Why hadn't people at the health food store suggested it, when they saw the oil in my cart?

I have used Olive Oil for years, and have been very careful with animal fat, and other types of fat. Even being a faithful fan of Olive Oil, I think my body was fat starved. Once I started with 3 Tablespoons of Udo's Oil daily, I felt full and satisfied after each meal. I was eating less, and enjoying it more. And I have slowly shed pounds. It has averaged out to be about 1 pound a week, and that is fine with me. (I have lost 12 pounds, and have 12 more to go to get back to my normal weight of younger years.)

Brain Foods and Spices

Younger_Thinner_You_DietI have believed for years that we need to focus on feeding our brain first, instead of eating for pleasure. But I couldn't find any real workable guidelines.

And then another serendipitous moment - I came across Dr. Eric Braverman, and his book, "Younger Thinner You Diet," which helped me understand why I was seeing such great results from the recipes in "Omega 3 Cuisine." It was brain food, pure and simple, and it was changing how my brain worked.

I now think of food as a vehicle to get my healthy fat, and brain healthy spices, which are oh so yummy. My sweet tooth addiction has totally disappeared, without conscious effort on my part. I now turn down the offer of ice cream without a thought of missing out on a treat.

I find myself eating slower, and enjoying the rich flavors of each bite. I also can tell when I am getting full, and stop eating before I have eaten too much.

To be fair, I should mention even before Udo's Oil, I ate pretty healthy. But I wasn't always satisfied with my food. Omega 3 Cuisine, combined with Udo's Oil has been the bridge I needed to make a unique mental switch without a lot of conscious effort. Add to that the understanding of how brain chemicals control our eating patterns, and even our health, and now it all makes sense.

Thankfully, more medical doctors with years of experience researching the brain's influence over the body have recently published in-depth books on feeding the brain. This experience with Udo's Oil and "Omega 3 Cuisine" has lead me to understand how simple and inexpensive it is to feed our brain and change the way our brain influences our body. Four basic brain chemicals control who we are, what we look like, how we feel, our health in general, and even how we age. The foods we eat can and do influence our brain chemicals.

Now I am armed with real, helpful information that has dramatically changed my life, which is supported by knowledgeable, experienced medical professionals.

Getting Rid of the Diet Mentality

Anybody who has weight issues knows that special diets do not work long term. Stop the diet, and gradually (or many times, very quickly) the weight returns.

Psychologically, we understand that we need to change our eating habits into a lifestyle, right? Yet the transition can be tumultuous. Some of us never completely transition.

The combination of Udo's Oil and Omega 3 Cuisine with it's brain healthy spices, simplified that transition process for me. I truly enjoy what I eat now, and cravings are gone, for which I am eternally grateful. Food impulses no longer nag at me. Eating for health is no longer a conscious effort requiring discipline.     Trying to find someone who sells Udos Oil here in Denver. I always used this for my salad dressings and when I increase my HEALTHY fats, I lose weight.

    Hi Diana - being in Denver, you should be able to find Udo's at Whole Foods, Sunflower's and Vitamin Cottage also carries it. It is always tucked away in an obscure refrigerated section, and each store has different prices, I am happy to see you had the same result as I experienced - increase healthy fat, lose weight.
