The English premier league (commonly referred to just the Premier League) is a professional league for English football clubs. The English Premier League was founded in 20 February 1992 after separating from The Football League which was founded in 1888; since then, the English Premier League has become the most watched sporting league in the world.

20 Clubs compete in the English Premier League, they also are shareholders in The Premier League corporation. Each season is 10 months long from August to May; in this time, every club plays every other club twice totaling 38 games a season.

The competition is based on a points system - 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and no points for a loss. The club with the most points at the end of the season becomes the champion, if 2 or more teams have the same amount of points, factors such as goal difference and goals scored are taken into account to find the ultimate champion of the season.

The prestigious 25kg Premier league trophy is 76cm high, 43cm wide and 25cm deep. It is made out of sterling silver and malachite. The trophy is quite symbolic, with the design based on the Football Associations crest.
