Are you looking for a great guide to niches? Perhaps even an Idiots Guide to Niches? If so, you have come to the right place. I am an idiot who has managed to make some nice sums of money using the power of profitable niches.
Think a really profitable niche is easy to find? Think that you are just going to find something you like, plug in a couple of keywords and Bam! The internet ATM is going to start spitting out cash? Sorry to be the one to break this to you but that is not going to happen. You can earn a lot of money and you can create a nice and passive income. The work does not need to be that hard. But it all hinges on making the right choices starting out. You need to understand what a Niche is and what makes it profitable or a waste of time.
Go into a market that is overly competitive and unless you are an expert, or close to it, you may well get CRUSHED. Not beaten mind you, but crushed. 100's of hours of work with 1-2 'luck' sales. 50 cents an hour worth your time? Not mine. But do the same work in a profitable niche and you might be on your way to a decent passive income and some nice earnings along the way.

Finding a great niche
So how do you go about finding a great niche? One possible way is to use a paid keyword tool. These will have all the pertinent information on any keywords you choose at your fingertips. On the bad side, they cost money. All of the information that the paid versions have are contained in free forms on the internet. The only problem is locating the information and the fact that it isn't always displayed nicely. So it really boils down to what your time is worth on the question of whether or not to get this information.
Targeted Traffic
Targeted traffic is a huge goal when you are trying to make a profitable niche. If you are able to get targeted traffic you will make money in your niche. Plain and simple! Targeted traffic is getting people to come to your site wanting and needing to buy one thing: your product. If you can get this to happen you will succeed, everything else is just "tweeking" to make it better. Customers
Customers are the lifeblood of your business. This is one of the problems many small businesses suffer from. To succeed you need to get enough people in the door. If you do that you will get a percentage of those people that will be targeted customers who are wanting to buy exactly what you sell and some more that may be persuadable. Everything revolves around having enough customers to make a go of it.
Product. The Final important piece of your niche marketing strategy.
Your product is the final key piece to success in internet marketing and specifically in finding a really profitable niche. This one should be obvious. What you are selling matters a lot. It needs to be a good product. Hopefully it works and does what it advertises. You can drive tons of people to your site, all of them in a buying mood but your product simply stinks, you will not generate any sales.
