My Dream Home Theater

Here's a little secret I'm just telling you. Yeah, just you - the one reading this. No one else:

I really, really, really want a home theater. You know. The kind with the big screen and plush chairs and even one of those nifty popcorn machines.

This lens has all my awesome ideas (because they are awesome) for building my home theater.

Why Do I Want a Home Theater?

When I was little, there was one thing I really loved: going to the movies. We did it almost every weekend and went to see whatever G rated movie was out there. Be it a Disney movie or E.T.

In my teens, this trend continued. Only, um, I was more into sneaking into R rated films than Disney films.

Now, I still love going to the theater. I love going out and watching the movie with the crowd (love those opening weekends). There's nothing like it.

However, there are sometimes when I just want to stay home and watch movies. Maybe it's just a movie that you can't see in the theater anymore like The Empire Strikes Back or Back to the Future. Maybe it's cold and I don't want to bundle up or maybe it's just a blah day and I don't want to get out of my pajamas.

Whatever the reason, wouldn't it be nice just to sit down in front of a big fat screen (that you own) and watch whatever movie your heart desires? Yeah, that's what I thought, too.

Theo Kalomirakis Theaters

Chances are, if you've ever watched a television show about luxury homes, you've probably seen a Theo Kalomirakis theater.

His theaters are a work of art, merging home and professional theater design. Once you see some of the photos of his work, you'll understand why his stuff is so fantastic.

Theo's designs (usually) include not only the interior of the theater, but also the "entrance" to the theater as seen below and above.

Theo's designs include everything from the traditional to contemporary to designs inspired by the client's childhood, hometown, etc.

Obviously, these designs are, um, a little pricey, so if you're a high-paid executive or movie mogul, chances are you won't have a problem affording one of those babies, but still, even if you're living in a one room apartment in Hoboken, you can still appreciate the design.

You can see more of Theo Kalomirakis' designs by visiting his site.
