Ulysses IS The Man Of The Hour!

I've made many lenses about our dog Mukunda who passed away this year. Naturally, Ulysses was apart of those lenses, but the focus was always on the top dog, Mukunda!

This time, we'll leave Mukunda out of it--but is that really possible?

After Mukunda's passing, Ulysses took a few weeks to regroup to become the dog he is today. He did not know how to beg for food or to even tell us that he was hungry.

When we feed him, he seems to look over his shoulder to ask Muki if it's OK if he eats.

In comparison to Mukunda, he is a quiet dog, unassuming but also has a powerful presence. Hanging out with Ulysses brings a new dimension to the moment.

A Loving Dimension!

Thank You For Our Purple Star!

Purple Star

Ulysses and I thank you for our Purple Star, received 2/2/11.

He is still here to receive it, too.

For that I am eternally grateful!!

The Timeless Riffle

Today is high summer in this part of the world. Last evening, we took Ulysses to the riffle. Next time, I'll take the camera and take a video of the magnificence. It is peaceful there and everywhere on the river and riffle itself.

The river used to be brown and muddy but since all of the dams are gone for the last 15 years, the river is clear, finally, and the bottom is gravely. The sunlight coming off the river, gracing quickly over the rocks, immediately put Ulysses in a zone which he maintained for the rest of the day.

I felt the zone right along with Ulysses. The loud snorts of the white-tailed deer, the soaring osprey and the baby ducklings swimming away at rapid speed is precious and rare, experienced all in one trip.

The Riffle Is An Unofficial Archeological Site!

The eternal now is ever present on the timeless river. The light upon the riffle always differs with rainbow colors springing from every rock. The riffle is also an unofficial archeological site. Last evening we found a part of a buggy circa 1800's. I can't say if it was an Amish Buggy but chances are, it is--or was. We think we can use the front of it to dock and secure the canoe.

The riffle is a place where shells and unusual rocks settle as well as Indian Artifacts, all since a total of three dams were removed. Skinning tools, arrow heads and hand made knives rest there.

The true consciousness of approaching a site with Indian artifacts is to allow all of it to remain exactly as you find it. Let them rest where they are even as the river carries them away in a storm or a flood.

Nothing remains in the same place, always moving, dancing, carried by the flow of the current.

The Healing Journey

Ulysses is recuperating--or is he dying?

Dear God/ess, We almost put Ulysses down over the weekend, but he perked up after I came home from work from a long 16 hour shift. That was 3 days ago. (Today is 2/2/11)

Ulysses is doing better today. He is having a healing journey, and his story is not yet completed.

Tonight I sleep by his side and perform healing touch and hum lovingly to his thin frail body.

Yesterday he ate 20 pieces of raw liver.

And today he lives another day.

Thank you for the Purple Star on this lens, which I just received.

Ulysses thanks you, too!!
