Did Not Expect to Like it!
OK, I'll admit it-- I saw the Portia de Rossi interview on Oprah and I was intrigued about the book. Then I walked into Barnes & Noble, saw the People Magazine cover about her weighing 82 pounds, and just like that, I was buying the book. Yes, the media campaign worked on me.
That said, I really liked this book-- the writing was decent, the story was compelling (as well as very sad, of course), and ultimately it does seem like it will help people from going down this destructive path. Since I'm assuming Portia de Rossi doesn't need to work, it's nice of her to come forward with this totally personal information to help people out.
This is just a picky detail, but I don't actually believe that she ever weighed 168 pounds. This seems like an exaggeration for effect--I don't think it hurts the story, but it does seem like she takes some liberties.

“A touching tale of obsession, weight loss, the entertainment industry, and love.”
