In Regards to...Underoath
A Brief History Of Underoath
Formed in Tampa, FL in 1998, Underoath's original lineup consisted of vocalist Dallas Taylor, guitarist Luke Morton, drummer Aaron Gillespie, guitarist Corey Steger and bassist Octavio Fernandez. Their first album, "Act Of Depression" was released in 1999 on Takehold Records. Current member, keyboardist Chris Dudley joined the group for the 2000 release of "Cries Of The Past". In 2002, the band released their first album for Solid State Records, entitled "The Changing Of Times". The album included current band members Tim McTague and Grant Brandell. Vocalist Spencer Chamberlain joined the group in 2003, and the following year they released their breakthrough album "They're Only Chasing Safety". The album has since been certified gold. In 2006, Underoath released "Define The Great Line", which entered the Billboard 200 Album chart at #2 despite having been leaked on the internet several weeks earlier. Two live CD/DVD's then followed - "777" in 2007, and "Survive, Kaleidoscope" in 2008. On September 2, 2008, the highly anticipated album "Lost In The Sound Of Separation" will be released. Aaron Gillespie has also found success with his side project, The Almost. Former Underoath members, Dallas Taylor, Matt Clark and Scott Nunn are currently in the band Maylene & the Sons of Disaster. Although Underoath are lumped into the Christian Rock category, don't expect to hear Underoath's metalcore/post-hardcore fury at a church near you. Considered one of the best live bands in rock music, they've played everywhere from tiny clubs to huge festivals. Catch them live if you get a chance, you will not regret it! Current Band Members
