2012 and Bible prophecy

Can predictions actually be valid and come true? Think about it... Is it really possible for man to determine what will be in his future? How often do plans for our own lives - fall through?

It is said by some top specialists in their fields that the Mayans never even predicted that 2012 was the end of the world. But does that in itself negate prediction, or more succinctly, Bible prophecy?

While the movie makers of 2012 have played off a real world phenomenon and marketed to an unsuspecting public to build hype, and ready the masses for the release of what is likely to be a multi-million dollar blockbuster movie, the reality is that there ARE definite signs we can watch for that will indicate this world is near its end!

The Bible has many seemingly strange and hard to understand symbols within its pages. What do they represent? What about the woman called in Revelation 17:5, "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH"? What about the beast she rides? Is there any way to understand what these symbols mean? You might be surprised to learn that - yes - you can understand what they mean and even more importantly, you can learn what the real meaning of life is all about. Why are we here? Why were we born? Where are we going? And what will we do when we get there?

And how does Bible prophecy fit into all of this? Proverbs 29:18 ESV "Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law."

You Can Understand Prophecy

As an example, look at the prophecy found in Daniel 2. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream of a massive statue made up of a head of gold, chest of silver, stomach and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and finally feet and toes made of iron mixed with clay (Daniel 2:32-33). Daniel told the king that he was the head of gold vs. 38, and that the following parts of the body made up of the different metals pictured what were to be successive world-ruling empires to arise after his kingdom, vss. 39-43. In the king's dream there was also a Great Stone cut out without hands vs. 34. God revealed through Daniel that the Stone represented the Kingdom of God and that it would consume the rest of the kingdoms and fill the whole earth and stand forever vss. 35, 44-45.

By simply allowing the Bible to define its own terms - we can see clearly what it is saying.

This is a basic principle of understanding the Bible as a whole, and it is also a fundamental key to the proper understanding the Book of Revelation.

As the pieces are put in place upon the world stage, and the storm clouds gather, for what the Bible calls the greatest time of trouble the world will ever know (cf. Consider. Does it seem logical that the Bible would mention nations such as Egypt, Syria, and Ethiopia, and yet not mention such nations as the United States of America and Great Britain, which are far more significant in world affairs? What about nations such as Germany, Russia, and China?

The answers may surprise you. The fact is some nations still retain names from ancient times, yet other nations such as the U.S.A. and Great Britain are called by their ancient names in the Bible. What are those names?

Roughly 27% of the Bible is prophecy, and most of those prophecies are for our time today, called in the Bible - the last days.

Mankind does not know how to get along with his neighbor, he does not know the way to peace. Notice the following statement General Douglas MacArthur made in his farewell address...

"Men since the beginning of time have sought peace. Various methods through the ages have been attempted to devise an international process to prevent or settle disputes between nations. General MacArthur recognized that in order for mankind to have real peace there would have to be an active spiritual renewal.

What about Armageddon? What is it? Should you be concerned for what it portends for you and your loved ones?

Here is the good news - You Can Survive Armageddon

Jesus Christ gave us some very sobering warnings about false teachers, and false prophets in the last days. Notice this admonition He gives us in the Book of Matthew, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves" (Matt 7:15 ESV).

He later warns us that many would come in His name declaring that He, Jesus, was indeed the Christ and yet they would still be deceiving many, "And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many" (Matt 24:4-5 KJV).

How can we keep from being deceived? The answer is simple: the only way we can know if someone is teaching the Truth of the Holy Bible, speaking the same thing that Jesus Christ spoke, is if we study the Bible ourselves so we can know exactly what it actually says.

Who or What Is--The Antichrist?

Believe it or not this mysterious character is directly related to the white horseman of Revelation 6, and the great whore who rides the beast, mentioned in Revelation 17.

Some argue that the only reason there seems to be an increase in severe weather and seismic activity, is because we have more sophisticated technology with which to analyze and record them, as well as an increase in population in areas where these catastrophic events take place .
