Can't uninstall Zune completely from your computer?

Are you getting totally frustrated because you feel like you've tried everything and you can't completely uninstall Zune software using the standard Windows Add or Remove Programs?

Discover below all my frustrations & time wasting efforts in trying to uninstall this stupid software from my PC and how I finally managed to remove it, permanently...

Completely Uninstalling Zune Software 

When you try to uninstall Zune software using your Windows ADD/REMOVE option, you might be getting the following error message:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

"Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Zune.msi' in the box below".

When you click OK ==> the following error message appears:

"The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it".

What I found in my case was that Windows "Add/Remove Programs" just cannot uninstall Zune. If you want to delete Zune permanently and restore your PC as if Zune software was never installed on your computer, this is the tool I used to uninstall Zune completely.

Below is everything else I've tried to get rid of it (after spending hours on the internet Googling for a solution), but it didn't work for me. It might for you...

Unzoone to Uninstall & Remove Zune? 

Completely uninstalling Zune means completely removing everything that is associated with the software, including what's left behind in your registry, driver info, unneeded registry keys & remnants that will later affect your PC speed & performance if not deleted.

So I found out that some guy invented this software called "Unzoone" to do this.

UnZoone is a piece of software that will remove the Zune software and all the bugs that come with it & are left behind on your PC. It apparently deletes everything from registry entries to those DLL files that get leftover.

My experience with Unzoone wasn't good at all. It simply didn't work!

It seems that while it worked for the old Zune software - it is not compatible with the new Zune software. Other people I notice in chat forums complain that when they tried to re-install Zune afterwards it didn't recognize the Zune software.

(Useless) Microsoft Solution: 

So what is Microsoft's answer to this problem?

It's their software so I figured hey, they should provide some useful removal instructions to their users - right? Well, here's what they had to say:

To remove the Zune software from the computer, follow these steps.

Step 1: Make sure that the Zune device is not connected to the computer.

Step 2: Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

Step 3: In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Zune, and then click Remove.

Step 4: Click Yes to remove the Zune software.

Step 5: If any of the following software appears in the Add or Remove Programs window, remove that software from the computer:

o Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0
o Windows Driver Package - Microsoft WPD
o Windows Media Format 11 SDK
o Windows Portable Devices

Ok, so I manually deleted the above thinking I'd be fine. Unfortunately, my computer still thought it was there!!

    i just got a zune and downloaded the software, after alot of trial and error i decided i should reinstall the zune software so i went to add/remove and my computer told me some bullcrap and then i tried everything to get rid of it, i manually hunted down zune files and deleted them but i couldn't reinstall because my computer thought it was still there, i did what Microsoft suggested, still no beans, i found this and hopefully it works, i seriously think i should have gotten an ipod

    I've had the same problem with zune software 4.0, I've been trying to reinstall the 3.1 software but I get the error message 0x8007001e. I've been on zune forums trying to figure this out, but so far no luck. I'm gonna completely uninstall the zune software and try again......one thing I've had to do is upgrade my ram to 1 gig. I have a forum question in the zuneboards under zune software about install error 0x8007001e..........

    i already deleted it off the control panel add or remove programs im tying to uninstall and delete zune software4.0 and reinstall zune0 3.2 and when i run the 3.2 installation it says that zune is already installed and it checks for updates and stuff and i went into progam files and then went into zune and deleted all the files there but some of them say i cant for some reason im running windows xp by the way some one please please please help please

    I installed some fx trading software a while back and couldn't get it off. I tried this Uninstaller and it worked perfectly for me. Thanks for the tip. L.W.

    I tried the Perfect Uninstaller... on my Vista x64 system.. and guess what it doesn't show up in the list. I can uninstall it normally wiht windows but it leaves shit behind obviously... and currently the Zune software doesn't work as it does not add anything to my collection... therefore I have a zune that I cannot use because I can only transfer files to the zune through the Zune software. Yes I am angry!

    I live in Norway and the Zune online repare is not accessible outise the US... hence I have no way of contacting Zune support either!

What is Zune software? 

Zune is basically Microsoft's answer to the iPod by Apple. Zune includes portable media players, Zune Software that includes Zune Marketplace with online music, video and podcast stores.

Many people consider Zune a complete flop (me included) when compared to iPod, but opinions vary.
